Goddamn. Now the government is into necrophilia too.

I thought that idea failed. I say some wise-ass politicians are trying to take advantage of the current situation due to recent events and try to slide this through.

But welcome to America, where our politicians love to spend their time battling over ideology while the national debt continues to explode larger and larger. I can't wait to see how the next presidential election turns out.

RE: Regarding CISPA

It's passed the house, so now it'll need to pass the senate before it goes to president Obama to be either signed or vetoed. The Obama administration has threatened that in its current form the bill would be vetoed, but we need to take that with a grain of salt considering that he said the same thing before signing the National Defense Authorization Act.

CISPA has a higher chance of passing than SOPA or PIPA did, because the large websites that participated in black outs to raise awareness about those two bills are not going to be participating this time around. This bill has the full support of most large corporations because it offers something to them. There are exceptions, but it does seem that this time around Google is not on our side. The bill is intended to combat cyber threats, but it does so while violating user's privacy. It was introduced by a doofus with either no understanding of how the internet works or a tendency to lie. He claims that the only information submitted is a meaningless series of 1's and 0's. He says that the only people who oppose CISPA are fourteen year old hackers in their parent's basement. He has a personal interest in this bill passing, due to the occupation of his wife. That alone should completely shatter any credibility he has.

If this bill passes, then companies will be able to pass along private customer information to the government, including military intelligence agencies. This is obviously a clusterfuck just waiting to happen. At first, it may only just be used in the event of cyber attacks, but it's a slippery slope in to it being used for other purposes.

Who am I? Who are YOU?

Typical American Corporatocracy. We need to resurrect Theodore Roosevelt and make him president then watch the corporations tremble in fear.

Teddy is coming for you...

Nice to see those who so eagerly cared to protect our privacy instantly abandon us when they learn they won't have any problems. Google is one of those dastardly groups. We've practically replaced a form of physical feudalism with a more political form of it, with the wealthy industrial lobby groups being a "union" of "nobles" who nearly control the system with the public only content with the assumption of power.

Further evidence that America is a lie to it's own history. A hypocrisy to it's foundations and traditions.

I had all the members of Team Rage sign the online protest here:

Me, Darris, KDFire, and Madcatz. Even Darris' brother signed it.

I think it's about time the Internet declared independence. We already have experience in a Cyber-Anarchy Smile

RE: Regarding CISPA

There are massive lines running under the ocean that connect the America's and Europe. When I send bits of information to a server over there, chances are they were sent over these lines. Guess who owns these lines?

Corporations and governments own and run and regulate the ISP's. Without ISP's, there'd be no internet. Etc.

And most servers are not physically in possession by the owners of the site. Thus you also don't really own your site unless you get your own servers, I believe.

RE: Regarding CISPA

^Indeed. That's why I run my own server. (As does lunatic for DnE)

Of course, then you have to have reliable, at least moderately decent internet upload speeds and what not, but that hasn't been a problem for me or lunatic so far... And none of the server hardware that they sell is necessary for small websites. Even DnE which gets a decent amount of traffic is running on an old laptop with a broken screen, unless it's been moved to the Desktop I forget. My shit's running on a pretty average laptop with 2gb of ram and 250gb of hard drive space lol.

But all the same, even if everyone hosted their own shit, if there were no ISP's to supply connections to your house the server would only serve to your local network, e.g., just to yourself lol.

Yeah. We've got all this tech, yet still rely heavily on physical connections to really connect. Maybe that revolution will have to wait...

Years later we get a bill that allows commercial entities to spy on us. Thanks GOP.

We should buy a senator's browsing history and advertise this page.

They're gonna be selling them in batches afaik. So you'll want to narrow it down to a geographic region or something, buy a batch, then try to filter the batch to find government users or something to figure out which one is the senator's.
