To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Another reason why I dislike the social media

I am interested in becoming a journalist, but the social media and technology are here. I do not want to be a journalist online. The society with teenagers shows that they don't even care about journalism, at least the majority.
I want to voice my opinion and everything, I just do not want to do it on an online website. But maybe if I could create an article and give it to an online magazine or something. But then my article might be censored, and I do not want that.

You could write a blog. It would be online, sure, but it would be on your terms.

Edit: Or you could write for mine. I won't censor what you have to say, and there are a few people who would read it because it's already established.

Don't become a journalist.

OR

Start your own company(as in your own magazine, or whatever).

There's nothing wrong with the current state of journalism. It's evolving, expanding, and reinventing itself in response to our new technologies. It's a great opportunity. Don't lament about the demise of newspapers when you have untold numbers of news sites at your fingertips. I use social media to read news. I follow many magazines, newspapers, news station, blogs, etc. on Twitter. It's amazing.

As long as I get my information from some sources, I don't care if you carved it into stone tablets or put it on a website.

Protip:Offline magazines and papers would also pose the possiblity of censorship. Creating your own website mostly read by SSers for the time being would be a better option than you would think.
