RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

TSDPOPI102's Introduction

Hello everyone! I would like to welcome you to my post and I want to thank you for reading my post.

This is my introduction to the School Survival Forums(obviously.), so without further a-do, here it is!
My name is TSDPOPI102 and here are a few things about me:
  • I'm 12.
  • I'm a programmer who programs in Python, Java, and Batch.
  • I try my best to use correct punctuation.
  • For some reason I can spell very well.
  • Also, it's pronounced Popeye, not Popee like most people think.
There you go! I was going to post a lot more but then I realized this is only an introduction so I'm just going to leave it at that. Thanks for reading!
EDIT: The TSD stands for Team Serendipity, but I don't know if I want to tell you what that is because it's advertising and I'm sure you don't want that.

Welcome! What do you program? What's your favorite book? Do you like anime?

They don't teach you how to be rich or how to be poor. They don't teach you how to walk away from someone you don't love any longer. They don't teach you how to know what's going on in someone else's mind. They don't teach you what to say to someone who's dying. They don't teach you anything worth knowing."-Neil Gaimen

I haven't watched anime in a long time and I really focused on manga so I'll tell you both manga and anime

Manga:
  • Soul Eater
  • Blue Exorcist
  • Naruto
  • Dragon Ball
  • Dragon Ball Z
  • Full Metal Alchemist
  • Shaman King
  • Dragon Drive
  • Fairy Tail
  • Bakuman
Anime:
  • Soul Eater
  • Naruto
  • Dragon Ball
  • Dragon Ball Z
  • I used to REALLY like Pokemon
  • Full Metal Alchemist
  • Dragon Drive
I know I watched more anime then what's listed but I just don't remember them and I'm pretty sure that's almost all of the manga I've read.

You're only 12, and you speak good English? Damn! You should be very proud of yourself. Ever thought of becoming a writer? Smile

...Whenever I see posts made by somebody in their pre-teens or early teens about how they know how to program, it really makes me feel bad about myself for being eighteen and not learning anything in the area yet. It's not too late, I just gotta get crackin'. Welcome to the forum man! You seem extremely intelligent.

Who am I? Who are YOU?

It's only called Relative Deprivation(I think). Just go read about some ignorant 40-year old guy who can't even carry the trash out because he's pretty damn lazy and you'll feel a lot better.

I planned on programming, but then again I planned on a lot of things(I need to invent something that gives me the time of a week compressed into a single day...)

I am a little bit of a writer. When I get bored or just feel like writing, I will. Maybe I'll make some stories and post them on the forums. Biggrin

I love writing stories and coming up with them, be it fan-fic,RP or just a regular old story.
