Well, I prefer to get a education not through school, because the way they do it is just horrible. The system that school uses actual harms the brain. A teacher actual was just in the news saying how schools do the opposite of what people think there intended for.

Logically and realistically considering the current societal and cultural stances on adolescent, I wouldn't get far If I put even the greatest effort into "fixing" the problem. As you very well may know, there are certain legal rights that adolescents lack in modern societies.

School is a small percentage of life? Yes. But the time we spend in school has the greatest impact on our future. Considering the fact that our minds are at their highest point of "learning-efficiency".If schools don't teach us the proper things, it's quite likely the rest of our lives will be miserably damaged.

Thinking back about my previous years, All I see is how my parents, my school, my society has been making all of my life decisions. It's always assumed that they are doing "what's best for you". If you put effort to fight back, you're considered rebellious or difficult. You'll end up being ostracized or punished in a way that soon becomes detrimental.

It's like sticking a sane person in a nuthouse. Even if their sane, the institution will soon make them believe their crazy(and they will probably end up insane). It turns into a detrimental cycle and it is impossible to get out of unless there are others who are close enough to pull you out before it's too late(that is if they don't end up in the same situation your in).

Basically, I see it as quicksand. They toss us in here and if we struggle against it, they let us sink. If we don't struggle, they wait till you become submissive to their beliefs and become the next generation that throws the next batch of kids in the same quicksand. Society has a seriously flawed belief...

Have you even read a real fucking history book outside of the textbooks in schools? For 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week, 180 days a year for 13 years of your life (plus studying) you are being fed nationalistic euro-centric BULLSHIT designed to brainwash you into being coerced into having your rights stripped and your children sent to war and made to believe that Native Americans and Africans as savages whose only accomplishment was being conquered by Europeans.

It's funny how American history books like to say Pearl Harbor was an "Unwarranted and brutal attack". Nope. Pearl Harbor was retaliation by the Japanese for America's embargo that was crippling their nation(Now why is that never mentioned). And learning something doesn't require school. It could be from books in the library, working with others or just be learning it by studying naturally.

People who hate school actual love to learn
more then kids at school. My thoughts and ideas while I do a project on my own time on something I care about are totally different then when doing a school project I don't care about.

How many kids in school actually like reading anything?

I for one enjoyed reading by starting from 1970 DC comics on saturday mornings(since I was always up before the rest of my family). I then leaped to those big books(skipping that "young adult" or "teen" category stuff). I hate going to the library or book store because I'll end up staying over 3-4 hours long without realizing it.(I also can't study at the library. I end up picking up a book on nuclear physics or a geological study of the desert )

School definitely did not motivate me to read. It also did not motivate me to learn.

I was punished for not using calculators in my math class. Wouldn't logic tell you that if I get the answer right without a calculator, I probably do not need a calculator due to being capable of doing it my head. Of course according to my teacher, mental math is wrong(yet I get more right answers and finish faster when compared to those who actually use a calculator). I dislike using calculators for things that aren't large enough to require one, or I may end up like students who actually have to use their calculator to find 8+4 or 12/3 or 2*5. The easy way is not always the smart way.
