RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Here's a question. Do you roleplay, write, and/or play games?

I... I have to say I've done (and enjoyed) all three.
Currently, I'm writing a story about a runaway gay kid. :o

Why do you ask?

Re: Ohhey. Heh.

I would so make a webcomic of a runaway gay kid. That shit would be awesome, but I have neither the time nor the mad skillz.

The geek in me has always wanted to roleplay.

The geek in me started roleplaying on Neopets.com. When I was 10.
Roleplaying saved my grammar, I swear it.

Re: Ohhey. Heh.

Speaking of roleplaying, my friend was once playing D&D with his dad as the dungeon master and he tripped over a rock. He thought it looked cool, so he kept it. Later, he met a cleric who told him it was a god slaying weapon. So he was seeking out any old god to kill and somehow he found one. He threw it into his face. The god's face imploded. He shot from Level 1 to Level 11.

Wait, -cough- THAT sort of roleplaying?
Psh, no. Never done that. (Though, there's this nerd store nearby, and I could easily do that.) But, erm. No. Never done that. Heh.

xD. A nerd store? Interesting. I played D&D with a friend long, long ago. I pissed some high level thing off and died. xD

Any writing roleplay I'm in, I quit after a short while.

It also reminds me of a little thing we said when we were conversing about it.
Me:"WHERE DID YOU GET A GOD-SLAYING WEAPON!?!?!?!?" (Frenzied, obviously)
Him:(calm as fuck) "I tripped over it."

Yes! A nerd store! It's called Fantasy Quest! Me and my friend went in one time, just to see what it was like. It was a wee bit awkward at first, 'cause, like, we were the only females in the building, but... then we found the Pokemon cards.
It's now the coolest store in my wonderful crappy town.

Video games, yes. A wall of them. And the comic books! My gods, the comic books! Not sure about computer stuff. I would imagine they would have some.
I think the worker dude was kind of shocked when me and my friend came back, with my binder of pokemon cards. xD

Wonderful. We're going to get along damn well. I've roleplayed since I was about 10, write and have written, and frequently play games. I also wouldn't mind reading that story when it's done.

That's not roleplaying, that is rollplaying. Big difference.

Hello!! I'm ModestMusic, but frequently refered to as Devon Smile
Have you ever been larping? Its all the fun of bitchslapping friends across the face with foam swords, but the dedication levels among friends vary when the roleplaying comes into question.

I am not much for the complicated video games, but I have an undeserved fondness (an addiction, rather) to gaia's zOMG.

So Pokemon, eh? Ever read the mangas?

Do you like good music????

It's either in the form of packing peanuts or a box type thing. The real kicker is I used to crumple it up whenever I saw it when I was a kid. Now touching it sends me into a fit of rage. Laugh

Music is not good when someone wails into a microphone then has it altered to great extremes, producing the illusion of talent, like most popular music today. Or justin Beiber.
