RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

What you already have should be enough for this, if you just add more RAM to it. (8GB should be enough)
So you would only really need the upgrade for gaming... unless you edit really really big videos, but then, extra RAM will help with that as well.

RE: why did my parents do this?
My kid was aborted and didn't even kick in for expenses. That was pretty selfish making us pay for the whole procedure.

^Wtf
He is bitching when he already has nice stuff, and is in a stable economic situation, and you can't get a fucking tic tac container and you know how he feels?
I'm pretty sure voluble is just whining.

I need you to think for you and stop being a servant

why did my parents do this?
^ Their conditions sound incredibly similar, if you haven't picked it up. The only difference is in how they phrased it.
Both Spartan and Voluble have parents that throw around a lot of money (regardless of whether or not they actually have that much) and buy products primarily for themselves. While Voluble issued a concession that his dad got him a videogame (without Downloadable Content) once, Spartan pressed instead, and claimed that his parents won't even let him buy a tic-tac container.
Both of them have a problem, that being their parents, who follow the "a fool and his money are easily parted" doctrine in the case of their children and "#YOLO" with themselves.

How old are you, ten? Get over it and get a job if you really NEED your tablet or whatever that fucking badly.
It stands to reason that if he is ten, he's incapable of earning an income. Damn child labor laws.

not only the possibility of him living in France like you, but anyone is able to get a job, the only set back being that cutting the grass for people won't get you 600 dollars in a week...unless you work about 90 hours and do a hell of a job on every single lawn and don't need to pay for gas or transportation

Thanks for the diploma… can I have my childhood back?
