Tonight's debate

I've decided to suspend my complete apathy towards politics and watch tonight's debate. I of course suspect it will be a repeat of the same rhetoric from both candidates, but it may be worth a watch anyway. My mind has already been made up. In the first election which I will be eligible to vote, I will refrain from doing so. My hands may be as filthy as anybody else's, but in this matter they will be clean. I will not support this election in any way. Despite this I realize that I must remain informed. I'll post my thoughts on the debate here once it has concluded.

Don't refrain from voting - the more people that make use of their eligibility to vote, the higher the chance that younger people will get the opportunity to.

I watched two minutes of it. Then I realized I would not make it through the debate without punching the screen in when they constantly deflected questions, so I turned it off.

I didn't watch any of it, but I read the posts on FB and saw a few pics...I think that Romney is in love with Obama by the way he looks at him, and if I could vote that I still shouldn't vote for the guy with a house in my state because "I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but f**k Romney."~millions of people across the nation.

I'll never make it through the debates for any political campaign though, so I'll just write in Marion Blacketer for everything...even if it says I can't, I'll find a way.

I'm sick of Romney thinking he knows anything about politics. Obama lied to us, but at least it was only once and that he actually has experience. BEHOLD, THE FIRST PEOPLE HERE THAT WOULDN'T VOTE FOR ROMNEY!

Romney looks Obama in the eyes like a man is supposed to look at another person. I haven't noticed anything off about the way he looks at Obama, but if there's something you've seen and I haven't, then please provide pics.

Most analysts seem to be in agreement that Romney won the debate, and Obama really appeared defeated at the end. Romney looked confident while Obama would frequently look down. Maybe he was just tired and worn out. Who knows. He definitely did not bring his A-game to the debate.

Despite slaughtering the president on a stylistic level, Romney was really acting as a salesman making a pitch to the American people. He gave no regard for the accuracy of his statements. Check the top few in his false list on politifact for a couple of the big ones.

The reason that I am opting not to vote is because by voting, I give the idea that my vote actually matters in this election credence. This is not the case in our two party system where the political monopoly lies in the hands of those running as republicans and democrats, and running under any other party will get you no coverage whatsoever. I would have liked to have seen Gary Johnson at the debate, but he was not allowed there because he has less than 15% of the estimated popular vote. The Commission on Presidential Debates was founded to “ensure that debates, as a permanent part of every general election, provide the best possible information to viewers and listeners.” By their omission of Gary Johnson they have failed their supposed mission and further enforce the two party system. It comes as little surprise too since it's headed by Frank Fahrenkapf, who once headed the republican national committee, and by Clinton's White House press secretary, Michael D. McCurry. We plebs apparently are not allowed to hear opinions outside of those held by the republican and democratic parties.

Political change will not be spurred on by voting. The only effective way to bring change is through direct action.

^ ...your vote does matter. Prove it by not voting Republican nor Democrat - that's one more victory for the smaller parties.

(Just don't vote for the Libertarian candidate - he's allegedly not very honest.)

Once again, I emphasize that by voting I would be showing that I support their system, when I do not. You will not convince me to vote, because it is a matter of principle to me. Drop it.

I'm just saying that there could be room in your principle to vote without encouraging the system.

For instance, if you vote for an independent candidate, that's not only one vote guaranteed not to go to the two major parties, but also one vote against them. You could be one of many heroes for removing the unfairness of the political party system.

Third party candidates have absolutely no chance of winning a presidential election where their voices are not allowed to be heard by the masses while the major parties can sound off as much as they like. My vote for any one of them would go nowhere, boiling down to a number in the one's place of the final vote. I will not vote in an election where the end result is fixed between the two main parties and respectfully request that you drop the subject.
