RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

a living hell

I'm so stressed out. I have no motivation or whatsoever to go to school. I hate my classmates and the teachers. I'm not a rebel btw I really love learning but the teachers are so annoying. My math grades is always the lowest in class(people in my class are really good at math and I'm always failing at math tests even when I tried my best) my math teacher in grade 10th was really kind and understanding. now I'm in grade 11th, my math teacher kinda forces me to pass all the tests :( and I'm so exhausted. The school starts at 7.10 am and dismiss at 4pm. I'm tired. And the day's not over though, I still have bunch of homeworks and exams for the next day. I don't know what I should do. I know high school won't lasts forever but this is exhausting.

and btw I'm planning to start college early so I can get out from that fucking place but I couldn't find one my country(I live in Indonesia)

Learning and school are two very different things. It is possible to learn in school, but the way it's designed, it's not very effective at all (and can even be detrimental)... so...

How do your parents feel about homeschooling?

a living hell

My school starts on Monday and I am scared to death. I am sure I am going to get ignored and be treated like a freak. I am sorry that you are being bullied by your teacher. I am terrible at math too- like really bad. I am in 12th this year and I hope this year goes fast. Be strong!! Biggrin

I'm sorry but what language are you speaking? Because it sounds like bullshit.

Just wondering. Is it a viable option for you to just drop out?

The amazing triple post, executed perfectly.

Anyway, I have pretty much the same story, with a few minor differences.

RE: a living hell

I agree, school is hell. But think about it, you are lucky to be in 11th so you can graduate in a few years and get outta there. The rest of your life will be school free. You already got through the first 10 years, so this will be easy.

If you still have troubles, I find a solo hobby and ignoring or giving quick witted responses to insults really makes the school day go by faster
