RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

I graduated. I'm done.

Fourteen years. I'm eighteen years old. Fourteen years of which were spent in pre-school, kindergarden, "primary" school, elementary school, middle school, and high school, all finished, and for what? The last month was probably the most academically stressful stretch of time I've ever experienced. I pushed myself pretty hard, but in the end, I graduated. With a 61% in math class. How's that for the bare minimum motherfuckers? Two percent less and I wouldn't have graduated. Fuck school. My entire high school career, even though I never failed a class, was being jeopardized due to 1 fucking class. An unimportant one at that.

It's all over now, though. I have no job. I have a plan, but no money. I should be getting a decent chunk of cash when I have a graduation party with my relatives, but that won't last long. I need a job. I'm going to community college in like 3 months. I really hope I don't hate the gen ed shit as much as I hated high school. I sincerely hope I don't. It's a community college. I seriously doubt it will be difficult. I'll be disappointed if it is. I need to get a job this summer. I don't think I'll ever get another summer vacation again. I wonder if I'll ever get to stop working for a three month period again. I didn't really think about it, but last summer was the last summer I'll ever have. I can't not get a job this summer. My parents are way too broke for that. Plus I'm used to living a semi-wasteful life style. Sort of. Not really. But I would like to. Or move out and be poor. That'd be cool too. Idk.

Anyway. I did it fuckers. I don't want to go to this shitty ceremony. Fack.

RE: I graduated. I'm done.

Good job man. You kept strong and went through it all. I'm about to graduate this 22nd of June.
I cannot wait to get the fuck out of this piece of hell. Get a job that suits you if you don't want to go to work feeling like shit. Although you don't always get to choose.. Personally, I really like jobs that don't have rushes, cause those are the worst.
Anyways, happy for you. Good luck on your job hunt!

All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers.

That's some great news. Mind if I ask what field are you going to pursue in community?

Political science. And philosophy. Planning on getting a dual major, if at all possible. I'll keep working on EFO and shit throughout.

RE: I graduated. I'm done.

There are tons of ways to make money online. I will make a thread about it in the alternate income section (I know a ton of ways). For now, just sign up for superpoints. You fill out surveys and shit to get the superpoints. If you fill out all of the profile crap and make some fake accounts, you can spin the lottery-button a ton of times. If you get a ton of your friends to do it and click the lottery button every day, you get a fuck-ton of super points. I have used it, it is legit. 50000 points = 500 dollars give or take. Here, sign up. Might be worth it.

I would go for political science and sociology, statistics, or economics. There is a shitty negative stigma associated with a philosophy degree.

RE: I graduated. I'm done.

That's how I make money after dropping out; making and selling candles. Ive also had countless part-time jobs, such as being an IMAX screen cleaner. And from betting for myself on street races.

The point: There are many ways to make money. And I don't even have a diploma.

RE: I graduated. I'm done.

I once ran away. It didn't really do anything and I'm not proud of it, but it taught my mom that I (shockingly) am a conscious individual AND I learned about myself. Try that.

RE: I graduated. I'm done.

Back on my own. I had an epiphany that running away wasn't solving my problems, and eventually I would have to face them. Running away was only wasting time and delaying the inevitable.

RE: I graduated. I'm done.

Thanks everybody. And good luck to everyone who's about to graduate. Stick it out, it feels awesome finally being free of that shit hole.

Also, philosophy is one of the only things that actually interests me. I like political science, a lot, but it's not really as interesting as philosophy. I know you can't really get a job with a philosophy degree, but I find the content so fucking interesting. Gah. I don't know what the fuck I should be doing.

Also, thanks for the job tips everyone. I'll try some shit and see if I can avoid getting a job I hate.

Congratulations! You were finally released from prison school! I still wonder what they charged you for. Oh, that's right absolutely nothing.
