The way Americans are used to living, If we put our heads together and the government makes a few cuts here and there. We can pay it back sometime between never, and in an eternity. Even if the government makes a few cuts here and there, thats only tiny miniscule little percentages. And why should we pay back the baby boomers debt? Where did we sign up to incur all this debt?

Collect all back taxes owed to the US. There's enough money owed to the government right now by it's own citizens that even if we factored in the cost of labor (IRS) and court costs (trials for those who fight collection) we should still be able to cut our deficit in half.

Edit: And stop printing out refunds. Either take the money or don't. But there is no reason with today's technology that we can't revise the W2 form to gives more accurate representation of a persons tax liabilities. Printing millions of refunds every year is a waste of time reasources and labor. Not only that, but thanks to inflation, the money you get back is never worth the amount you put in.

Assuming the money is still there to get.
But cutting the deficit in half still wouldn't bring the crisis under control, not when Obama is spending a lot more than even Bush did. We need to eliminate the deficit, which means reforming how the system operates and forcing the hands of those in power to actually spend only as much as they take in.

Not that doing that wouldn't help, but I think it's probably a very politically poisonous solution.

I know very little about the whole financial system and not much about economics. Stock markets and shares confuse me, especially those funny graphs. I get mindfucked with all the numbers.

1) Legalize weed and tax it like smokes and alchohol.
2) Then tax the potato chip and pizza buisness.
3) Have someone that isnt a dumbass run through the prisions systems and release enough people to condense that shit down and close at least a few. Shits expensive yo.
4) Use the remaining prisioners as a slave labor of sorts. Repair the highways and shit for free.
5) Cut back on, if not end the War on Drugs.
6) No more aid money to Isreal lol.
7) How about no long term foreign aid money at all?
8) STEEP import taxes on damn near EVERYTHING. In turn it will cause the American industrial system to revive itself and that will create more jobs that can then in turn be taxed.
9) No more government handouts, except veterans benifits.
10) Bonds. Sell the FUCK out of those bitches. Dont know how they will make it work, but thats not my problem. Just fucking sell em.

All the fucking way man. Honestly though I don't see a problem with programs like social security or unemployment if we can afford it, but we cant. The point of a government is to protect and assist its citizens. Aid during old age is a sensible thing to do.
However it is extremely illogical to continue it with our current system of "Spend what the fuck ever and worry about it later"
Once (If ever) the deficit is eliminated and we institute new regulations to limit the spending power of government to what they take in I see no problem with programs like Social Security as long as they are run responsibly. Which, sadly, is something our government seems incapable of doing.

Wrong. The material value of a coin does not have to equal its designated face value. For example, the metals used in one penny are actually slightly more valuable than said penny. If the Treasury decides to print out a piece of tin and say it is worth a trillion dollars, it can do that. And America hasn't been on the gold standard for ages, anyways.
