I missed school a 2nd time this week because I was ill, and I proceeded to complain about compulsory schooling to my mother because she told me she didn't want to go to jail because of my absence.
She proceeded to call me defiant and ungrateful for my free education. We got into an argument and she was trying to explain to me why I needed to go to school. But she didn't answer any of my questions. It got to the point where she was so pissed off at me she verbally expressed the fact that she wanted to strangle me. From now on when I miss school I have to go to Saturday school, she told me. Woo, like I care. That's one extra day of my week that I have to go. I already go for 5 days.
So then she's mad because I don't seem to care. She's got it in her head that my depression is all simply a facade and that I believe I deserve special treatment because I'm smarter than everyone. I never believed any of these things. Most of the time I wish I was as mindless and conformed like the rest of my peers, and in turn I think I would be happier.
And now, I am grounded and must finish my first post. Joy.

That sounds very.. suckish. I have never gotten in a serious argument with either of my parents over school really. They just write it off with something like "It's the law." Saturday school is a punishment in my school that I'm pretty sure only the school can give out? I have never even heard of a parent trying to get their kid in Saturday school this is absurd! Well unless it was opposing a different punishment like in school suspension.

Ugh. Sounds like my mom. I've been missing frequently this year, but not enough to where they'd call, complaining. They'd BETTER not, considering if I miss more than three days in six weeks, they make me make up five hours of seat time. Fricken detention for five days, because my mom is too fucking cheap to get me a doctors note saying I can stay home.

I end up missing a lot of school, due to ill health (both physical and mental). I've had many arguments with my parents about schooling and my poor attendance. Their main argument is always 'Do you want to have a good career when you leave school?'

I'm going to be missing a lot MORE days, apparently. I may or may not have strep (?) throat. And I can't come back to school until I go to the doctor.

Ugh, my mom does that too. If I get upset with her, she says that I'm just "tired and cranky".
