To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Apparently things are only worth doing if I'm going to get tested on them in the future.
So I'm teaching myself Korean, sort of, as I have this manga that I'm fucking crazy about (shut up) but the only copies I could get of the second half of the series are in Korean. So I'm literally teaching myself another language so I can translate them...
and my dad doesn't give a shit because apparently it's useless and not worth it if I'm not sitting in a classroom getting tested on it. But I like doing it because it's fun and besides being able to read this manga, I might be able to speak to someone in Korean one day.
And I have way more enthusiasm for learning Korean than learning French which I'm currently doing in school, probably because this is something I actually care about. If the manga were in French I'd probably be nuts about French too.
He just told me to stop this and concentrate on reviewing my Chem because apparently learning about oscillating chemical reactions is something that will be totally essential later in life.
I hate that school can determine what is important in our lives by deciding what to test us on.
Go to work. Send your kids to school. Follow fashion. Act normal. Walk on the pavement. Watch TV. Save for your old age. Obey the law. Repeat after me: "I am free."

I know its an ever repeating mantra of obviousness and you may know it but your dad is a shit head and I'm sure he treasures his crappy football games that serve no real purpose except to confirm his closest homosexuality.
My dad was the same way.
All he gives a shit about his money and making his kids live life the way he wants them too.
He got mad at me for ordering some books that he deemed useless because I read for entertainment though lucky I was 19 at the time and told him to eat shit like he deserved.
Nod if you can and smile if it doesn't hurt to much but deep down disregard your dad as the fool he is.

I love this logic. It's always irked me because I usually do something other then what school is teaching me, and everybody gets mad because I'm learning, but not what school wants me to.

Exactly haha its not like they can really do much about it. Even if they punish you by taking things away... act like you don't give a shit and it doesn't bother you. They begin to realize it is hopeless by then.... especially if they are the typical American parents.
Basically even if they punish you, don't do exactly what they want, show them being irrational won't work.
