To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Middle School Student Suspended For Hugging Teacher

WECT-TV reports that Ryan Blackmon, an eighth grade student at Bladenboro Middle School, was suspended when he hugged his teacher after she broke up a potential fight between himself and another student.
“”I said, ‘Thank you,’ after she got done,” Blackmon told the station. “I went to hug her, then she just snatched me up by the arm and drug me to the other teacher and said that I needed to be written up, and that something serious had happened.”
According to school documents obtained by the station, it is against the rules for a student to hug a teacher.
Blackmon’s parents have filed a police report against the teacher and the school after a mark was left on the boy’s arm from where the teacher grabbed him.
“I don’t understand how she could feel threatened if I was showing my gratitude, but she could have told me politely to tell me to move away,” he told the station.
CBS Charlotte has reached out to the Bladenboro Police Department and Bladen County Schools for comment. The school district is currently on spring break.

I always just hugged students back but the reason he did it was probably for fear of some type of molestation charge. Sickening state that out public schools are in. Which is why I will never work in one again.

I used to hug my teachers all the time. I don't really see what's so bad about it as long as its a friendly hug and not a romantic one, and it quite obviously was a friendly one.

I know he's lying. He got in a fight. Then he lunged at the teacher in anger. Then he makes up some crap about trying to hug her. Then files a police report on the teacher because he got marks on his arm in the fight or the break up that he wants to blame on her. It's obvious as hell. That's why I don't break up fights. She should have let these stupid punks kill each other. And she will next time.
Btw, do you personally know him?

So neither of us can know for sure what happened. But this also isn't the first time some kid got in trouble for hugging, so it honestly wouldn't surprise me if it were true.

So you're pretty much saying you can't prove he hugged her, but then again YOU can't prove that he didn't hug her and it he lashed out in anger.

TheCancer brings up a good point. I've known students who'd purposely try to do the same thing and put on a sob story to make them seem innocent.
Still, the fact that it says you can't hug a teacher in their rules is pretty stupid.
