To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Major mindfuckery in english class today

Today in english we were looking at some newspaper articles and one of them was about Corporal punishment in schools (blatant child abuse obviously) I figured my class was pretty sane other then maybe one or two idiots who would be for it as a joke but 5 mother fucking people put there hands up seriously agreeing. Basically, they all thought that it would get kids to work harder and not mess up as much.

I made my point pretty loud that it was stupid and the teacher agreed with me (not a big surprise he seems pretty nice) but wtf????? How the fuck can anyone other then old conservative traditional fuckwits be for this, let alone youth in my fucking class?

Because that's probably how their parents raised them to be.
We are a product of our environment.

I have similar debates like these in school and I find some kids to lack a few brain cells and the ability to think independently.

Well one of the girls saw how I and the teacher was so opposed to it and I think that changed her mind as she started saying how she wanted to change to "not in support of it" but god knows what she actually thinks.

Like EFS said it is all in how the kid is raised. Those kids probably get hit at home or did at least. I see little kids support hitting all the time. They think it is good and the right thing to do. Instinct dictates we follow what are parents do and how they raise us. I remember when I was an aid in an elementary school the teacher was reading some book and the kid in the book got a spanking and most of the kids nodded their heads and agreed that the main character should have gotten the spanking (ironically it was for not listening to his incredibly unreasonable grandmother).

It's funny though how quick kids will pick up reason (at younger ages). My cousins (who is 8) said she was gonna make her kids clean and beat them if they don't and I just simply asked her how she feels when her mom does that, and does she think her future kids will like that. Her opinion quickly changed. To be honest I just think she thought she would sound cool because nearly everyone (except me) in my family supports hitting as the go to method to teach their kids..... fucking Albanians lmao
