I read part of The Republic, and before I lost interest in it he had went pretty far into explaining his idea of "noble lies." Basically, from the time of birth, people would be taught myths in order to instill virtues in them.

Don't get me wrong, he had a lot of good ideas. There's nothing wrong with somebody with ideas you disagree with being someone you look up to. It's still to only admire people that think alike.

In fact, Socrates was a first rate badass. Drank hemlock. Plato started the Academy and is the fountainhead of Western thought. Aristotle taught Alexander the Great.
