RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

And this is a facility for the mentally retarded.... How in the FUCK has everyone in that place not been indicted for torture and assault? I did a little google search on it and they have along history of shit like this. Regular use of electric shock devices not approved by the FDA, Common cases of PTSD, Agression, and paranoia along with physical scars in former "Patients". One of the staff members was caught lying to a grand jury about destroying tapes that were to be used as evidence for fucks sake.

RE: Teen restrained, face-down, electrocuted 31 times

So... According to this logic, next time my four year old cousin hits me when he gets mad because I am forcing him to do something he quite obviously doesn't want to do, I should tie him up and electrocute him 31 times. Because, you know, that solves absolutely everything! I mean, really, who gives a fuck if he's scared of people for the rest of his life, can barely leave his room he's so scared, can't trust anyone again, it at least put off all my problems and made him do what I wanted him to.

I don't even think that kid even hit them. He probably just said he didn't want to. Even if he did hit someone, there's no excuse other than their sadistic, warped minds where they would have a right to do that to someone. Especially if they were trying to change his behavior.

Jesus dicks, humanity is screwed.

Bunch of assholes. Maybe we oughta tie them down and electrocute the shit out of them, see how they like it. A facility that has this bad of a history shouldn't be allowed to exist.

Hidden stuff:
TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.

these things are allowed to happen in the first place because in 21 of our states, school officials can still hit the students and legally not get in trouble, and in 50 of our states, the parents are still allowed to do it in public so bad that it requires the kid to go to the ER...this was according to the post, i don't remember if it's been changed now, but this makes you think...if we can still beat our kids in public, why did the government create CPS?

This is why I hate having rent-a-cops in schools, because whenever a teacher sees a fight, they will just get in and break it up and take the kids to the office, but if a rent-a-cop sees a fight then he will jump in with a weapon of choice (usually has to decide between stun gun/tazer or mace, but if he's dumb enough he may just warn them of his gun then proceed to shoot the kids with rubber bullets, which at close range [he'd have to be to have a good shot] have a good chance of severely injuring or killing the kid) and once he has the kids on the ground he violently pulls them up and keeps shaking them to their feet when they try to walk, if it was just for them trying to get away then i'd understand that, but no, no matter what the kids deserve to shaken up as much as possible and maybe even hit on the head a few times for being an idiot before they go and answer a million questions before they get arrested and taken to court to answer a million more questions, the answers to which may be gone due to being shaken up/hit on the head.

I do however think that parents shouldn't get in trouble for paddling their kids, because if you get hurt for something wrong then the chances of you doing it again go way down, that's just basic psychology, but sadly this isn't the case, if another adult sees you spanking your kid then they might call CPS on you and you could lose your kid for doing something that isn't "politically correct" which is complete bull in my opinion, because even though there are cases where children get beat half to death for something dumb like getting an F on a spelling test, the entire population shouldn't be punished for one person getting caught and punished for it. Basically, adults should be allowed to punish there children in the least harmful way possible without getting in trouble by our nosy government.

Sounds like your life on a daily basis except slightly worse that day than the days you have now.

Congratulations humanity, because you refuse to let go of the old and evolve you actually make people believe in 2012. Not only that, but you're the only species on Earth that were able to make it possible, now we get to sit until we die because we couldn't get to Mars. We have failed as a society and don't deserve our gifts to survive for this long. Maybe this is why dinosaurs are extinct, we sure aren't any better than the dirt you say we're created from. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...DvwSOFto#! Noo
