RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

My Favourite School Subjects
Yes, even Anti-Schoolers have favourite subjects...
1. P.E - Mainly because we just do either Football (Soccer(Which also happens to be my favourite sport)), rugby, or basketball, and we actually have a CHOICE.
2. I.T - Making websites and games and shit. Plus the chance of playing Internet games and covering up with half-finished work.
3. Music - Boring when the teacher just goes on and on about symbols and stuff, but we mainly just make random music on Mac's GarageBand.
4. Art - Bitchy teacher, but ok because you can be a little bit creative, even though they decide what you draw.
That's it. And what do all of those subjects have in common? Learning through experience, and not just 'Listen, write, listen, write'.
Fight the power!

P.E. - I use to do PE and I loved it. I loved playing sports and I kicked everyones ass in it haha
Music - Never done.
I.T. - This class is so fucking easy and boring. I just want to program but no they teach us how to do graphs on excel for 3 years.
Art - Never done.
English - Depends, some issues are nice to debate and you get to realize how retarded some people are. But half the time the issues are pointless and when the teacher tells me to give my view, my view is always "I don't give a fuck."
Math - I need this, and I embrace the usefulness of math, however I suck balls at it.
Geography - I kicked ass in this.
Physics - It's really hard but it's pretty interesting and I'm doing well, one of my favourite subjects.
Psychology - I expected this to be AWESOME, but it's just a bunch of SHIT. It's too easy and half this shit we do is pointless.
History - Interesting, however I always mix up dates.

1. Java - awesome teacher (but horrible person), fairly easy, and fun
2. Broadcast Journalism - Mac lab is fun and you can turn in something late and still get full credit
3. PE - my teacher was awesome
..that's it

RE: My Favourite School Subjects
Logic and scientific method is my favourite school subject. I never miss even a single lecture, it is very interesting and increases the analytical skills.

RE: My Favourite School Subjects
1. Digital Electronics - only class that is challenging but I still eh enjoy/have an interest on.
2. Precalculus aka Math Analysis: meh okay
3. Honors Physics: bit of a pain in the ass and hard to take all that seriously but meh okay
4. US History is meh okay. Interesting debates and shit, but sometimes it gets too... stressful? Just the feeling of it. It's not that hard, it's how it's made up to be. All the binder checks and shit make it more meh.
I'd be pretty happy if I only had to go to school for 1 and 2...
