RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

It is something that makes people feel hope, even if it is a false hope. However, most religions teach "morals" and those morals are destructive when taken too literally. I also think no religion so far has been even remotely plausible or realistic.

I was an athiest for some months then i went to my old religion. I don't feel content with it the system of heaven and hell bothers me. My emotions are overlapping
While it gives people hope and something to feel part of, most people I know take it too literally and have their lives revolve around their religion, and that's when it's taken too far and becomes somewhat destructive.

This. I have no issues with religion. I have mine, you have yours. Don't let it control your life, don't talk about it 24/7 and relate every event in your life to it, and sure as hell don't try and convert me.
I don't have qualms with religion, if you believe in some God of some kind, kay then, that's your choice (even though most of the time you are raised believing). But seriously, I let you believe in your religion as long you don't turn in a batshit insane fundamentalist, and you can respect atheism and other kinds of belief (or lack of).

But I on my own believe in something. I don't know what. I just think that I'll have a chance to meet my ancestors when I die, somehow.
I still don't get the "Believe my religion or you'll burn eternally" bullshit - well I get it, a lots of money and stuff - but I don't buy it.

This, but I also say its something to practice me kicking the proverbial asses of morons who don't know anything about logic when I present to them their own self-contradictory, ridiculous, wishful thinking, non-evidence-based belief system
in other words, philosophical target practice.

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!
Dear Tumblrites:Despite your wrongly self-diagnosedPTSD, no line ofscientific evidencesuggests people can be triggered over theinternet. Triggering works through thesenses(i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes throughreal time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it'sACTUALLY HAPPENINGin yourACTUALlife, youCANNOTbe triggered. The only exception to this is if you have aseizure, but then again, that's triggered byepilepsy(i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights)NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having aflashback. When you remember, youthink; when youflashback, youfeel.

The thoughts had become corporeal on their own account, were ghosts, e. g. Religion is, as Karl Marx would put it, simply a device used to escape the meaninglessness of life. It is clung to by the masses as true, even without any evidence, regardless of reason or intellectual thought. It can be shown that there is no proof, yet people still feel it to be ultimately true. I think that it is the remnants of a time long ago when we hadn't the means to define our universe with science and mathematics. Religion is a relic from years ago, when stories were all we could come up with to explain our surroundings. Now that we have a greater understanding, it, to me, seems like a frail system of beliefs in which no one should buy.
Some theologists can put up some decent, but ultimately faulty arguments, but none stick to a direct interpretation of any books. These theologists, I can kind of sort of see reason in, but to those who blatantly disregard reason, disregard contradictions, and believe in what the bible or Koran preach? I think it's silly.
I don't believe in any gods or creators, bit I do believe that the earth is made up of countless numbers of beings that exist in different dimensions. I follow aspects of Wicca and Zen Buddhism, but do not try to force my beliefs on others. I'm more of an agnostic that leans towards the paranormal.
You know, even though sometimes religion can cause shit storms and wars, it is actually not that bad as long as your not a fanatic. I view it as something good for cultures. For example, Roman Catholicism has excelled in the arts and inspired beautiful music. Also, believe it or not, priests helped begin the studies of science and then later science become more available to more secular people. Islam also excelled in science back in their days.
btw, I can't really say I am religious. I just can´t stand some of the members of my religion, too much fanatics. Although I do respect religious people who actually do some good for the world.
