RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The reason why we're having a problem with obesity.
Is pretty much just sucrose and high fructose corn syrup. Not even kidding. Stop drinking soda, and pretty much anything else with sugar and shit in it and you'll loose all kinds of weight. Stick to water and plain milk. Eat more fruits, stop eating shitty white bread, start eating more veggies, stop eating bullshit, and you're good to go... Oh, and trans fat.
RE: The reason why we're having a problem with obesity.
That, and a shitload of people get basically no exercise.
Go to work. Send your kids to school. Follow fashion. Act normal. Walk on the pavement. Watch TV. Save for your old age. Obey the law. Repeat after me: "I am free."
RE: The reason why we're having a problem with obesity.
Well you shouldn't be eating ANY transfats at all. That's the worst type of fat you can get, especially bad for you heart.
And goddamnit faggots, exercise!

It doesn't actually matter if you drink chocolate milk or not - as always the doses does it.
Drink too much, exercise not enough, and you get fat. Exercise enough and you don't. Drink less and you probably won't. Applies to all kinds of food, though I wouldn't recommend eating too much fast food.
Damn, isn't it common sense to listen to your body any longer?

The problem is, the type of sugar we put in our bodies doesn't stimulate the "stop eating" signal that get sent to the brain, so we keep eating even if we're full.
Also, depends on what's on the chocolate. But yeah, like you said, moderation in everything is key. It's impossible to completely avoid shtity food, so just make sure you cut down on it.
RE: The reason why we're having a problem with obesity.
The thing people don't realize with soda is that it dehydrates the fuck out of you. Seriously you might as well drink from the ocean. The caffine is a diretic, which makes you piss, and the average sugar content of one can is around 50g-60g, or twice the daily recommended allowance for a person.
RE: The reason why we're having a problem with obesity.
^ Pretty much, yeah. So it makes you thirstier, and your more likely to drink more of it. Vicious circle of ZOMG DEATH. Also, soda is basically just beer without the buzz, since the amount of sugars and shit. Beer is fermented from the same shit that's in soda's, and when it all gets to the liver, soda gives you the same ill effects the beer does... And stuff.
RE: The reason why we're having a problem with obesity.
Another point on the sugar content: the average can has 50-60g of sugar in it, twice recommended daily value; But if you look on the nutrition info on the back of the can it will only say 20% daily value of carbs. The USDA is putting simple sugars in the same category as complex carbohydrates and implying that there's no difference between the two, even though one is clearly better than the other.
