Even though I hate school, I get crazy high scores on my state's standardized test. I don't get it. Last year I got Advanced in every subject that we were tested on. Here are the levels in test scores:

Lowest = Below Basic
Low = Basic
Average = Proficient
Above Average = Advanced

I've gotten mid-range advanced for the past 3 years and I don't know how. I blow off a ton of homework, have horrendously low grades, but still get really high scores on these tests.

If these tests are anything like the GED I could probably take it tomorrow and still pass it easily.

I always get advanced in English, but average in math. (Except this year, I got advanced in math too.) Which is ridiculous, because I'm TERRIBLE at math.

Some people literally are just fucking TERRIBLE at academic work lol. It's almost funny sometimes. (I try not to laugh, they're better at other shit I guess.) Like, when I was in the lowest math class, I was basically an assistant teacher. When we had a substitute, the teacher would tell everyone to consult me if they had any problems. Shit was cash. Now I'm in a higher math class and it's too damn hard because I don't want to put the effort in. Gah.

People have different aptitudes I guess...

Standardized tests are really simple. The state makes them easy so it looks like their kids are really smart. But somehow people still fail them. :/

Our state is moving from "PSSA" to "Keystone" tests, and the Keystone test is easier than the PSSAs. We did a sample of it for Math at the end of last year, but the 2016 class is the first class to do all of subjects.

^ Fuck that shit though... If you don't pass it, I heard you don't pass the grade and have to repeat. And they give it to them more often.

Also, did you hear about the threat they issued to teachers this year? They said if they let kids use their own calculators or phones during the test, they could face jail time.

I think to graduate High School you have to get (in our school) Proficient or above. If you don't you get sent to a "PSSA Prep" class and all you do every day is PSSA prompts and writing. Sounds horrible but I know I won't have to go there. Sadly, my friend did :(

My math teacher may have mentioned it, but when we take them again I'm sure they will tell us.

Lolwtf? They do that shit now? When I took them last year, I know kids who literally drew pictures of shit instead of doing the tests. Our school gets mad at them, but all they could do is put them in another math class or something.

Standardized tests are set 3-4 grade levels below the grade actually taking the test. If you don't score at least a proficient on those exams you're functionally retarded.

And no the GED is nothing like standardized tests. It's completely opposite. They calibrate the test so that 40% of high school graduates fresh out of class would fail.

Just pick up GED for dummies and spend like a few hours reading the parts you don't understand or something. Easier than staying in school, I guess.

This deserves some simple explaining. Standardized tests are built on the premise of "measuring intelligence", one way or another. They won't say it outright or try to hide it behind the facade of measuring specific intelligence or proficiencies, but that's almost equally ridiculous.

Since it is impossible to quantify your overall intelligence, those tests are often based on memorization or simply understanding your teacher's niches and underlying assumptions. In my country we have a "Bible" subject. Not knowing shit about the story in one question, I got full scores by mentioning how awesome god is and rambling about how each prophet is different in his moral standings (again, without knowing shitabout their actual opinions). This worke because the teacher liked such rambling, and can work equally well on a national exam.

Point is, if you don't let yourself fall into the pit of misdirection that tests check for ANYTHING REAL, you can get by fairly easily.

My tests:
Advanced English: High
Engish: Low

Advanced Math: Medium - Low
Math: Medium

Other Subjects: Medium - High.

Fuck logic. Tests and exams are failure when it comes to measuring skill in a subject.
