RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

I ditched today....
I ditched today. And here is the ting, I went back to school for lunch, a teacher stopped me in the hall, a teacher that works with my counsler who is my teacher also, and said I wasn't in class the two periods on attendance, I said I didn't know about it and the let me go back to the class I had. I left again to a friend's house. But what is really fucking making me mad is that the fucking teachers stuck their God damn nose in my God damn business and called my step dad (doesn't live with me) and he called when I got home and my mom went to work, he called me and asked was I in school today, I decided to just tell him the truth, but lied and said I went to one class, which is kind of the truth, since lunch to me could be considered a class, and he got on rambling about how school is important and if something happened at a friends house I could go to juvenile and asked me questions about the people I was with. My birthday is Friday but he thinks it's tomorrow, Thursday. I don't have a clue why. But what is really pissing me off is that he said "What will Mom think about this?" or some shit like that, and he's going to TELL her! And he said parent conferences are tomorrow and they will know if I've been ditching. Well I have 4 classes, and I have 1 A, 2 B's and a D. I'm not going to work my ass off for school just because you want me to get all A's and B's. Atleast I'm passing. But I'm just mad he's going to tell my Mom. I love her, but I honestly don't fucking care what they think. I bet 1 Million dollars that they ditched when they were my age. And I'm like, you don't have to even tell her, it was none of your fucking business to even fucking start with. Mind your own damn business. But he would probably try and get violent. Anyways, I'm thinking of just telling my Mom straight up. "Yup. I ditched." because it's not like I do it every fucking day. This is my 4th time even ditching. So w/e.

RE: I ditched today....
I won't even get mad at my kids ditching school. Becuase I am not going to put them at school anyway.
Your stepdad must be those that get overreactive on everything that happens on school.

Online or Homeschooling for my kids until I figure out how they can get a source of income by just unschooling.

RE: I ditched today....
School wrecks my mood no matter how much energy or sleep I had, and no matter what I had for breakfast, it just kills me inside. I can feel myself being pushed to be a mindless "good citizen" every time the bell rings for us to be herded into a different class or when teachers [try to] tell me what to do. I can consciously feel it happening. Fucking sucks

RE: I ditched today....
I agree. It's funny, a few day's ago I was writing on my desk in first period, Geography, and the teacher comes over and says "Don't write on my desk. You're lucky I don't make you stay after and clean it." Or some shit like that, my only reply was "Whatever." and erased it. I was thinking, you stupid bitch, you can't make me stay here after class just to clean your stupid fucking desk. It's not even yours, fucker, it's the government's. It's not even school's. And you can't make me do anything, so fuck off.

RE: I ditched today....
My step father seriously needs to search up the origins of school. I'd be glad to refer him to some links. And it's funny because I wrote about why school can be labeled as useless and the teacher said excellent reply and it would be good in the debate team next semister. People think school is useful but it is useless. And regardless what anyone says, I'm keeping to my opinions.

I think the only real reason why parents are all OMG GO TO SCHOOOOOL is so they don't get in trouble with the law.

Lol. My dad fucking hated highschool. He said he would've probably shot up a school if he could. Messed up thing to say but adequately describes how much he hated the god damn place.
