RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

I've had it with my school.

This morning my mom told me that she's emailing mrs M (my guidance councilor) and that she was told that I'm missing a math credit.
Okay, I go and talk to Mrs M.
Last year I failed algebra. So they put me on this online math program over the summer and I completed it. The program gave me a final exam which I passed.
Appearantly, since I didn't pay $200 and sign up for summer school, all that work means nothing.
Last year Mrs M VERY SPECIFICALLY told me to do the math program and that I'd be all set. She said NOTHING about summer shcool or a final exam. I did EXACTLY what she told me to do. Now she's telling me that I'm all wrong and how none of that is possible, and that I needed to sign up for summer school AND physically go to school during the summer to take the final test.

She told me that I'm just "pointing fingers at everyone and can't accpet responsibility for myself" and, as she always does, was literally laughing at the things I said as if she thought it was some kind of game.
NOBODY EVER FUCKING TOLD ME I HAD TO PHYSICALLY GO TO THE SCHOOL FOR THE FINAL TEST. NOBODY TOLD ME I HAD TO SIGN UP FOR SUMMER SCHOOL AND PAY $200. FUCKING NOBODY. SHE VERY SPECIFICALLY SAID THAT DOING THE PROGRAM FROM HOME WOULD BE OKAY AND WHEN I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYTHING ELSE I NEEDED SHE SAID NO.

FUCK YOU, DON'T BE TELLING ME "TOO BAD" AND BLAMING IT ALL ON ME WHEN **YOU** DIDN'T TELL ME WHAT I NEEDED TO KNOW. FUCK YOU, FUCK YOUR SCHOOL, AND I GENUINELY FEEL BAD FOR ANY OTHER HUMAN BEING THAT EVER HAS THE DISPLEASURE OF CONVERSING WITH YOU OR ASSOCIATING WITH YOU IN ANY FUCKING WAY, YOU UGLY RETARDED FUCKING OLD HAG.

And on top of this bullshit, I'm getting slightly suicidal. I can't help myself from blaming everything on myself, even this. Even shit not related to school I blame on myself, even if it clearly isn't my fault. I end up blaming myself in the end, feel like a completely useless fuckup, then think that maybe I should just kill myself if I'm going to end up fucking everything up. School is very slowly degrading my sanity and self worth and I cannot fucking take it anymore.

She's seems to be a bitch. Next time you talk with her: just say what you typed here for the lulz.

How the fuck she even have this job? I thought the reason for this job is to help people with stress caused by school, but it looks like total buttfuckery.

Counselors are one big NOTHING. Don't go there. They will make you feel miserable + they CANNOT keep secrets. 2 minutes after you tell them something, your parents will know what you told him / her.

Actually counselors would sometimes keep things out of my parents hands.

It depends on the counselor in question.

No, this is Patrick.

Guidance counselors are fucking morons. They are stubborn and stuck in their own little way of thinking. Sorry she fucked up and you have to deal with it. If you still have the screenshots from the exam or proof you did it, I'd print it out and bring it to her. Online courses are just as valid as physically being in class, especially with math. Highschools now are starting to offer online courses to students, so the whole "online course doesn't count" is bullshit. SHE fucked up. SHE should be liable for her mistake. Fight this bitch.

Don't think about suicide bro. Just rage it at that bitch of a counsellor.
Fuck she sounds frustrating to deal with. It's not your fault dude, you can't be blamed for obeying them and being unaware.

That counsellor sounds like a true bitch. Just keep soldiering on, no matter what that woman says.
