RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Diarrhea and School

So today was like most days at school. Except for a few differences. One, math test. Two, scheduling for next year. And three, DIARRHEA. I knew I should have not gone to school, but "oh no! I have scheduling and test!" For most of the day my skull felt like someone had taken a sledgehammer to it, and I constantly have to go to the bathroom. Didn't eat anything for lunch except iced tea. Couldn't pay attention to lectures because head hurt. After winging the test I have to go to scheduling. There, I'm told the easy classes I wanted to take for junior year can't be taken because A) There are even MORE classes I have to take that are hard B) no room on schedule C) Colleges won't take credit from those classes. All the while my head is still pounding and I unfortunately agreed to most of what he said. Luckily, I can change the schedule but I apparently have to take 6 weeks of summer school to get in just a few of the classes I want. Somehow made it through the rest of the day, then got home after harrowingly cold busride. I promptly lay down on the couch where I've been lying for hours typing from my iPhone. I feel sick when I get up and so I have little to do except screw with iPhone or lurk online. Wish i could at least play Skyrim. Also, it's supposed to be warm in here but EVERYTHING FEELS COLD to me.

Moral of story: Do not go to school with Diarrhea (or any other crappy disease)

RE: Diarrhea and School

Reminds me of a time in Junior year when I was having massive stomach cramps during first period. I would have avoided school, but the cramps didn't start until I was already in my class anyways, and I didn't want to use the bathrooms because they were God-Awful wastelands of abomination.

So I just sat completely focused on nothing except for not shitting myself while my stomach felt like it was being ripped apart for almost half the period; If I moved even the slightest bit, I could feel my bowel controls slipping. Eventually it died down, but for that painful 20 minutes or so I wanted to just die. Learned absolutely nothing that period, although I normally didn't learn a whole lot anyway.

No joke,
today I had to take a shit, after holding it in the whole day I came home, ran to the toilet with my laptop, and I am now posting on SS as I'm taking a shit.

And the stalls in my school have doors but if you close them completely, you'll be locked and spend the entire day there until someone comes and unlocks you

At every school I've been to there's an opening at the bottom of the stalls. Can't you just slip through the bottom?

Diarrhea and School

I remember back in middle school I got a lot of diarrhea. The bathrooms in middle school were an ungodly abomination, so I never used them. If I ever had to take a shit, I went home.

Diarrhea and School

Never used the school bathroom. I could contain my bodily waste between the time of going and school and returning home. It was routine so I never had a problem.
