RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Whats your favorite POV in games?

As the title says.

I like third person generally but I have a sort of sweet spot for first person view. Something about being in first person makes me feel more vulnerable and like I'm apart of the game world and not just controlling some character who is in the game.

RE: Whats your favorite POV in video games?

Depends on the genre

For shooters, i like rainbow six's idea of being first person mostly but switch to third person when in cover. I love first person for horror games

Sandbox games like GTA and Saints Row
should stay third-person. Those games in first person would be a disaster

I also like how Killzone implemented a cover system while being a first person shooter.

Stealth games like the Hitman, Thief and Splinter Cell series' are better in third-person cuz they give a better view of your surroundings

Overall, first person cuz i feel more into the game when in first-person, but sometimes it's betterbor even necessary to be in third-person

RE: Whats your favorite POV in video games?

Well, I like both. But in Oblivion and Skyrim I always switch to 3rd person because I like looking at my character I guess. Can't see it so well in first person and all that.

RE: Whats your favorite POV in video games?

I like third person better, especially Dragon Age and Kotor type third person. I feel like I don't have much control in first person.

No, this is Patrick.

1st person usually. but in games where you have to be wary of your surroundings I prefer 3rd person for wider view.

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.

RE: Whats your favorite POV in video games?

3rd person. However I've always thought Metal Gear Solid was better with a top-down view. Resident Evil using a fixed camera view made it scarier than the games in 2nd person view. I also like using 3rd person in Elder Scrolls more because you can see what your character looks like and the way they hold the sword in 1st person just seems awkward. In racing games, if they have an in-car view then I like to use it, but it must be actually in the car and not just in front of the car.

RE: Whats your favorite POV in porn?

Sometimes I like a third person view, other times I like a top down view, but for the most part I enjoy a first person view. A third person view lets you view mostly everything in the area but leaves some for the imagination, a top down view lets you see it all, and a first person view is good for immersing you and bringing you close to the action. It all comes down to what is on the screen at what particular time.

Again, I agree with you. School does teach you things. And once again, you are missing the point entirely. It's not that I disagree with school's mission or the things it teaches. As benign as the intentions may be, any system that forces people into an environment where they have no say in their lives is a situation ripe for abuse of power.

RE: Whats your favorite POV in porn?

Excluding certain titles like Bioshock, and L4D I like 3rd person. I always use 3rd in fallout unless I'm looting shit of shelves. I like being able to see my character.
