To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Hello everyone,

I'm mitch.

I went to a high school in a small town where the community was really tight. The entire experience i could describe as a complete waste of time, and the only thing i gained form it were a few good friends.

The school was mostly a bureaucracy, ran by a district that has a million positions. The teachers were mostly bad with the exception of a few AP teachers. The AP kids got the worst of the school system. Regular kids got more leeway while the AP kids were supposedly held to a higher standard.

This website is one of the best websites I've ever been to. I can only find criticisms about College on the internet, no one dares touch the precious high school "experience".

I as of now am working on gaining enough money over the next four (hopefully less) years to move out. I dropped out of community college last month, since i found it was basically just high school all over again. It sucks i didn't drop out of high school when i was a freshman, then i could have made the mistakes i am now on the job hunt. I probably would be a lot farther along in my career or business ideas.

When i am a parent i plan to unschool my children, i would never subject them to the awful conditions of high school. I'm fortunate to be in the company of people who agree with me. It makes me feel less insane.

I'm Libertarian, so i have a very keen eye for bullshit everywhere.

My hobbies vary, but i enjoy reading a lot.

Worst experience.... too many to list. I'll think of them as i'm active on the website.

I absolutely love coffee.

I had no idea what i wanted to go to collge for, it was a community college. So most of it was basic GED course shit. It's basically high school but with ashtrays. I was very unsatisfied with what i was being offered for the amount of money i was spending (even if it is cheaper than a 4 year university).

I love any kind of music really, for every genre there's got to be at least one song i will enjoy.
