RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.
-SoulRiser

RE: What's positive about your schools?
I am apparently extremely good at English, and that means that I go to one lesson a week with a class which is in a higher grade, and if the rest of my class has English, I can go to the computer room to do whatever I want there.

People haven't been such assholes as I've heard elsewhere.
It's close as fuck to where I live, like a block or something. Yet I still always exit at the last minute AND feel like shit when I wake up lol. Some people have to wake up at 5...

I can go to the computer room during break. Other than that, the teachers are nice. Other than that, just that.

RE: What's positive about your schools?
The only positive thing is my English teacher every so often. She lets us debate certain things when she asks the class questions and lets us use up a good chunk of class time having discussions about topics. She lets us use some language too. The only time there is ever a positive in my school BY FAR.

RE: What's positive about your schools?
Only good things I like learning science. Not the best in a school environment but it's better than most classes.
Also, whores everywhere.
But, you have to be 1337 to get in to their parties. I was invited a few times by the guys, since they know how leetly funny and freaky I am at parties, but I'd rather stay home.

RE: What's positive about your schools?
I got to do a presentation on horror movies last year in learning support.
So that was fun seeing everyones faces and the awesome pictures from saw and stuff I like my school because they actually let me do that
they have photoshop on the computers in the art department so that s pretty good. I can draw to a B/C standard I can paint to a D standard but my computer graphics are A/A* so I love the photoshop- I havent got it at home so it is pretty cool.
And there are some good teachers, if they got rid of the other lot that I hate school would be much better.

RE: What's positive about your schools?
-It's fun searching through the documents to find hidden games on the computers (I found halo on the last few days of school)
-There are heaps of student organized events
-you get electives in year 9 and up
-the science teachers are awesome
-You have more freedom than in primary school, and usually you don't get in big trouble for the tiniest things. (slap a guy in the face because he deserved it? Oh well, he was asking for it -but in primary this would of been a suspension)

I put Counter Strike, Halo, Soldier Of Fortune 2, some racing game, Quake 3, Assault Cube and some other game on my schools network. Except now they added permissions to write, which I can't do anymore, and now they're wiping all data for the next year. Arrgh.

Yeah but it gets annoying when you have to copy it to every kids USB.

RE: What's positive about your schools?
Positive things about school:
-Teacher's that either don't give a fuck or were rationale and understood our plight.
-Having Wednesday as an earlier day (for us we got out at 1:40pm).
-Friends.
-Ditching school whenever possible.
-Having a teacher that goes off the State Standards (and makes it creative)
-Weight training (before they took it out after my freshman year)
-Video production or any really fun electives.
That's about all i can get out of my cluster fuck of a school

RE: What's positive about your schools?
Why should you want to kill me? I have survived, survival of the fittest! Nah sorry, don't take it seriously. But if you kill me, I can't fulfill my dreams...and that would be sad for me. Do you want that? C'mon, don't kill me. Just go to the highest instance, which makes law about school, plant a bomb in their building, barricade it, and threaten to blow it up if they don't make "school" to your opinions...ultimate power can be a fine thing. You could shove the trigger up your a--...

RE: What's positive about your schools?
I have no positives about my school. Guys are frontiers trying to be thugs and ganstas. Women are slimes that act like everybody else has to solve their problems and when something happens it's always someone else's fault.
"times be tough in the hood. nigguhz be robbing nigguhz for derr Lebrons and jackets liike. but it be liik dat sometimes. We don't care if all deez preppy azz schoosl got bettuh grades den us, we got phat azz bitches n hard azz nigguhz feel me!?!? We don need no damn intelegest (he said it that way...), when we be gettin pussy all day err day!?!" (Girls laugh and agree.... )
- Quote from Class Clown in my History Class....
Now imagine that everyday....
But I digress, the ONLY positive really about my school is that it Starts at 7:50 am and ends at 2:00 pm. In other words, a pretty short school day from normal HS where I live.

Awesome history teacher. That's about it.
I would have said IT class but he's making us do a report on kittens. That's kinda dropped the awesome level.
