Do you ever root for the bad guys in movies?

The function of hope is to make someone stand still, in a corner, waiting for some good thing to happen...

But it will never happen.

Never.

Because in the end we will only have DEATH itself!

What lies beneath a character like... the JOKER ? It was meant to make the society lose hope in itself, to stop waiting for solutions from within.

No society is going to save anybody because it's foundation is based on hope.

And that hope enslaves us.

Once you kill the hope, you are killing the society and setting yourself free from what's holding you back.

And then you can do anything you please because you will have the power to decide things for yourself right in your hands! And we are soooo affraid of deciding anything, exactly because we were conditioned to rely on others.

For example, recently we had a presidential election (Footix note: this is a reference to the Brazilian 2010 election) where the people voted with some hope that anything could change.

But it won't change.

It will NEVER change.

Because the human being, the "homo braziliensis" have the strong tendency to egocentrism. He basically only cares about taking advantage in anything and building some empire around him.

He is the king of shit. It's full of shit, but, still, a king.

While he keeps that illusion alive, believing there's some control over his own existence, and the "powers that be" are the only way to keep the order...

He will be his own slave (and a slave of others).

And from that slavery it comes the servitude to the State, religions, great corporations, ideals like love, happiness, money...

And hope.

The JOKER saw the size of the jail.

But instead of saying "hell, I want my share", like every brazilian does...

He sets fire in the world, immolating himself in the process, since for him what matters is to stay in motion!

He accepts the inevitable, he embraces death, and that way, he completely transcends the Self.

That character is amazing, we are insignificant.

He doesn't have a past, present, and even less a future, and totally nullified himself, while his goal is only to confound.

He uses symbols of power against power itself: when he blames the father, he is talking to a father. When he blames the woman, he talks to a woman.

When he faces Batman, he is not standing against the character, plain and simple: he is fighting against what BATMAN stands for!

The JOKER doesn't fight people.

Instead of doing that, he is against the IDEAS those people think they are.

That's why he's not concerned about killing the Batman, or learning his secret identity. If he did that, it would not be funny to dismantle the symbol, it would make him real.

Batman believes the society can be saved and redeemed. And why? Because it's incapable of thinking about alternatives, that's why he keeps the "status quo". The JOKER is the evolutionary force, representing the EVOLUTION, while Batman represents the continuity.

And we need continuity, after all, it's the only way Hollywood will make money!

The truth is a character like the JOKER is enlightened.

We are used to think that Enlightenment can turn someone into a good person, in peace, like an angel...

No way!

To become enlightened we need to comprehend, deeply, our own potentials and everything from the society that is keeping us prisoners.

We are too afraid from those freedom fighters because they don't care about the world.

They care with what they BELIEVE. And if they really believe in that shit, they are going to turn things upside down.

And forget about this talk of becoming Enlightened and turning into a saint.

That's a MORAL option.

And the individual's moral is not a determinant factor for anything.

Another thing we need to remind (and this is quite obvious), is the fact that the audience is brain-dead. They don't stop and reflect about things, like you and me are doing right now.

They see a crazy guy wearing a make up and scream: "Whoaaaa! Duuuuuude! Yeaaaaahhh, Batman is going to catch him! It's over, I need to go to school/work tomorrow".

Most people don't have a brain, don't think about anything that matters.

They are, at best, domesticated monkeys.

But sometimes, the most simple idea hidden in those productions can make you think in a way, let's say...

A little more defiant, in those who have chosen to think.

We are the ones doing that.

And that's why we can be considered a threat, because the Powers that Be don't want us to think!

The reason I don't like batman is that he tries to get everyone to think that he's right about everything. If a "bad guy" ties someone up then those people are victims being held hostage, but batman comes in and throws spiky batarangs at people to shock them and trips them and then at the end he tries to kiss ass to the milf Leslie by saying "I'm an angel aha you see I don't use guns"


Its like if I were to start growing blueberries in my back yard and I add sulfur to the soil and some Christian starts hitting me with a book bag saying "Your using the Devils Brimstone the Substance of HELL!!" when its obvious to any Landscaper and garden cultivator that blueberries need acidic soil to thrive and the soil must be lowered to a level of 5.5 Ph for the blueberries to absorb nitrogen and bear fruit.

Very interesting Mystery.

I tend to like the sliding scale of idealism versus cynicism going down close to the cynic scale.
I love to see idealists have everything they believe in stomped, lit on fire and put out with piss.
Its a shame that even some anime, books and games tend to do the whole idealism thing better with the whole idealists losing everything and dying in a puddle.

Magneto always struck me as much more realistic than Professor Xaxier
People naturally are afraid of Mutants because Mutants are an evolution of the current humanity and if they wished they could wipe them out.

Shame in the Xmen movies Magneto suffered not only plot stupidity but he was forced to carry the idiot ball for the duration of it then again the xmen are included too.

I root for the bad guys on occasion. Mostly because, without these bad guys, we would have no true perception of what good guys were either. We need them to balance the world out.
