RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Craziest Student ....Ever.

Hey.
I just got home from school and logged on imediately. Today in school, my Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Greene, caught me doodling in my notebook. Her exact words were that she 'had only seen drawings this crazy once before. Kieren McMahon.' Then she went on to inform me, and my entire ss class, that Kieren McMahon was one of the most different students she had ever taught. That he used to draw the craziest things in his notebooks, was very outspoken in many topics, and stood for what he believed in. No matter what. Is this true about him? Yes. Is this true about me? Yes. But that's not my problem. What she said translates to "freak-a-zoid, tends to disagree with teachers, and stubborn." Yes this is true about me. But something tells me that I should be a little insulted. Yes, I'm VERY different(most use the word, freak, or wierd), I do disagree with teachers especially Mrs. Greene, and I'm stubborn, but leaning more towards standing for what's right. Now that's not my problem. My problem is that Mrs. Greene is making all these traits sound horrible. Almost like I should be ostracised for them. No. No, no, no, NO!

Well, she and anyone who believes her needs to seriously re-evaluate their values. Perhaps, someday, they might learn what being an individual means, and learn that following everyone else simply retards intellectual growth.

Re: Craziest Student ....Ever.

Interesting. When I mentioned being agnostic to a teacher once they made me sound stupid as well when explaining it to people. "She doesn't know if there's a god." Just made to sound as if it's fundamental that there is a god and being unsure was somewhat of a blindness. Perhaps, but this is my belief.
He didn't strictly say that there is a god so I couldn't say "Prove it".

Weird how being against the masses places this stigma on you.
Conspiracy theories are coming from this, I'm sure of it. In fact, during some fit of mania I made a weird blog post about one but I'm too lazy to translate it at the moment.

I make many VERY weird drawings too, with a friend too (inside jokes arise), such as manipulating pictures of people in school books have cockatiel-like facial features (crest, beak, red cheeks, sometimes wings) or whenever there's a picture of a dog we draw chains (usually a steel ball connected to its leg) on them or something and give them a sad face.
The teachers haven't noticed these weird things but they sure keep my friends amused. Do not ask about their origins. It's what you get from constant sleep deprivation and boring English classes when you speak English better than your teacher. (and get bad grades for using synonyms that haven't been taught yet)

Re: Craziest Student ....Ever.

Fractomancer, you don't realize the stupidity of your post. I can't believe you would come to this kind of conclusion. I, for one, will not stand for you making up this kind of stuff. Art is serious business and I will not be told otherwise. What you don't seem to realize is that art is the very foundation on what this country was built on. We are taught teamwork, sportsmanship, and balance through art. Without all of this, our society and humanity as we know it would fall.

I'm glad to be part of such a unique empire and I will fight to the death for it. It's in my spiritual being to come to the aid of those who need it. To be questioned is to be dishonored and you should know that by now. We are all insignificant in this universe, and if nothing matters that means that everything matters. An example of my understanding can be seen in the book "Go, Dog. Go!" When the dog hits the red light, he stops. This can be compared to many things in modern-day life, such as when you get your girlfriend pregnant because you forgot to wrap it, or when you decide your kid is too ugly to keep. Everything gets better, however, when you hit that green light, and it's smooth sailing ahead.

Some people do not make it to this green light and eventually take their own life. I am saying it is not the right thing to do; stick with what is hard and you will be rewarded in the end. No matter how hard life is or how bad your love life is, what you can do is all you can do, and that's all that matters from a realistic standpoint.

I can't put a finger on it but it feels like I've seen that very same post somewhere else...

He posts it in most threads. I've been here a couple of days and I saw it in at least 5 different threads.

Re: Craziest Student ....Ever.

You can easily make her sound like a fucking idiot using her same method of embarrassing in front of the class. you need to reply immediately with:
"well golly Mrs. Greene, that sure is a real educated opinion you have there. Assuming that because I draw weird pictures that I'm immediately a "problem student" and then proceed to tell the class about how crazy other people who draw are? Brilliant. Simply brilliant. I experienced something similar, I had this one teacher who ranted about her crazy assumptions of people who draw... she was really difficult to deal with"

and then you can make your "what now bitch?" face and enjoy her rage
