RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Elabarate setup?
I was given the math problem:
900,752,738,699,520,755,700 * 300,790,001,759,123,456,111
I can solve the problem, but I have a problem. The problem is that I need to prove that I didn't use a calculator. My teacher percieves typical multiplacation as-if I used a calculator to do each individual row, thus getting me in trouble.
I cannot use line multiplaction since the number contains zeros. I need to record a video of it, but I don't have a camera or the abbility to purchase anything outside of stores or time to go to the store, thus I cannot purchase hypercam.

RE: Elabarate setup?
This teacher of yours must be douchebag if he truly made your class do this math problem.
Well if you can, just record in your cell phone, if you have one.

I don't have a cell-phone, and the assignment was for me, not the class (6 students).

RE: Elabarate setup?
You can still use row multiplication with zeros, just follow the usual math rules. Write it on paper. Sorry bro, but this is going to be time consuming. What a waste of time

RE: Elabarate setup?
I can do that, but my teacher will still perceive that I used a calculator to figure it out, so it won't work.
Edit: My teacher is a scheme artist, that will make traps.

What... why don't you ask your teacher what to do

She asked me to solve the problem and then prove that I didn't use the calculator to solve the problem (to her). When I multiply normally, she sees that I carried random numbers, and with lattice multiplacation, I think it might work.
Should I try?
Edit: How do you carry a number over 99?

If I just write that, my teacher will say that I used a calculator.

Me and you are smarter than my teacher so I need to explain how to solve the problem without the calculator.

There is no way your teacher seriously asked you guys to do that without a calculator. Either he/she is messin with you or you are messin with us.

I'm just going to do lattice for the whole problem, hand it in anynomously, and then lie to her and tell her that I couldn't do the work that was assigned on Monday.
Is that a good plan?

Nobody in their right mind would ever do that without a calculator unless their life depended on it.

I smart.
2.70937417857964118909552*10^42
This is what I came up with by hand.
Edit: Don't always trust a calculator since it says that √4 - 2 = -1.068281969439142e-19.
I know that √4 = 2 and 2 - 2 = 0.
That means that 0 = -1.068281969439142e-19, but that is totally illogical in any sense.

RE: Elabarate setup?
Wow that's so fucking stupid. That is irrevelant to life. And plus, in final examinations you have to use a calculator anyway..nonetheless you can pirate some cam software...
And I've just noticed everyone asks for Math help on SS. Math seems to be considered hard, heck even I find Math the hardest subject in Prison.
Just wait for one of the math freaks to answer this, I can't be bothered at 2:13am! :( Sorry bro.
EDIT: I thought I was the first one to reply lol

That would never happen when you're just multiplying 2 numbers.
