RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Tired of it.

For the last 16 years, I've been continuously doing the same thing almost everyday. It's like a repetitive cycle. Wake up, school, come home, homework, sleep, more school. Repeat. It seems so pointless. I'm going nowhere with this, I hate this feeling, but it's so hard to get rid of it. Even during vacations/weekends, there's always something to worry about, it's like I can't enjoy my life.

Life isn't easy I know, but most of my problems come from school. It's like they WANT you to be in pain. ( Probably..)

When I do get time to spend with friends and family, it lasts only so long before everything resumes what it was before. ( The repetitive cycle. )

I'm really annoyed and pissed off at all this.

I always try to make everyday a little more exciting, but it never works out or it just doesn't last long enough before I realize all the shit that's coming my way the next day.

Anyone get what I'm saying...?

All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers.

RE: Tired of it.

The problem with school is you cant take a break when you want.
I feel with you - I only don't have this feeling any more because its only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ts only 6 months, ....

... till i graduate. Hopefully life will get better when i can afford my own stuff.

Try to do some spontaneousness actions when you can. I know, that when I get my drivers license, I will drive as far as possible with a few friends, then drive back. Just for the fun of exploration. Such actions, when available, ease up the pain. If exploration does not fit your character, do something else spontaneousness. Something you won't do every day. And look forward to it, to take your mind off thoughts.

RE: Tired of it.

I feel exactly the same way and think that to myself every day when I wake up. At school, it feels like they Try to take everything away from me that I find remotely enjoyable and give homework on breaks. I treasure weekends and breaks so much because it gives me time away from school, but of course they have to give homework during those times. :/

RE: Tired of it.

Of course most of us will get it. At 18 life became so much better but I didn't realize it because I was soooooo used to the grind. Then at 21 I realized the awesomeness of adult freedom. The last two years have been some of my best.

RE: Tired of it.

Yeah it's absolutely sickening! We're in some sort of a robot factory and they control our every move. Anything deviating from the norm is a no no to them so they highly encourage routine. This is why I get this horrible feeling in my stomach every morning when I reach the entrance of school.

I actually am getting my driver's license right now. It's just gonna cost another 800$ and 10 more months, about 16 classes. After that, definitely driving around. Although when I was younger, I would ride my bike around the city while listening to music. Made me feel free.

Haha, thank you. And yeah, I might be getting a job soon, even though I'm looking forward to it, a part of me is thinking : " One more event to repeat..."
