RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Don't want to sleep :(

I don't want to fall asleep because I know that when I do, I will wake up instantly and go to that god-damn place we call school...

It is 1 AM so I am probably just ganna go to bed because I am tired and if my mom ever found out I stayed this late I would be grounded (What! 1 AM is late? Well where I come from his isn't even acceptable during summer)

On Monday I went to bed at 3 AM, I just prefer to make up for it in class... IDK just wanted to post something before I go to bed, have a nice night guys!

RE: Don't want to sleep :(

I love sleeping.. But that's because it's an easy way to escape everything else and I often have lucid dreams which basically are dreams that you control most aspects of.. I always create my own perfect little world and enjoy it.

Feels like I waste alot of time sleeping, think about it. I can sleep 12 hours every day, or I can sleep 8-9, over your whole life those few hours really add up and you actually live more of your life. Weekends are an exception to that though, love sleeping in on weekends.

RE: Don't want to sleep :(

I only sleep for 8-9 hours at most. Any more and I get sorta annoyed and I feel as if I wasted a lot of my day.

RE: Don't want to sleep :(

I sleep for five hours on average each night. Works for me, plus I get more time at night/morning. I usually sleep at 12 to 5 a.m.

RE: Don't want to sleep :(

I usually sleep 5-7 hours and make up for it with 7 45 minute naps at school.

No, this is Patrick.

That's weird I feel the same way. The fear that time will speed up and carry you to that hellhole. I also make up for the sleepless nights in class.

RE: Don't want to sleep :(

Go to sleep. You'll feel better, thus making the experience even more bearable. Shocker... There are ways to make school suck less.

Though, I'm a hypocrite. I'm averaging the same as Elfy. But for me, it's less about not wanting to go to sleep and more about procrastinating, then deciding fuck it and not doing the work at 4:00 am.

RE: Don't want to sleep :(

I usually slept eight to nine hours straight, but i have seem to have gotten some kind of sleeping problem recently.

I wake up really early, around six am, and i constantly have dreams of pure terror, so i too dread sleaping now.
