RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Got suspended for HEADDESK
I got suspended from school for putting my head on my desk, and being "quietly disrespectful".

Re: Got suspended for HEADDESK
Be like me, whenever you get the chance flip through your school rule set/handbook and find any loop holes in rules that can allow you to annoy the teachers/staff while being perfectly withen said rules.
I have used the loop hole in my schools dress-code in which you do not have to wear pants. But what legwear you do have must reach mid-thigh.

Are you fucking kidding me?

So what, that means you can go around wearing boxers or boxer-briefs? Please tell me you've done that.

I call bullshit. There's no way this can possibly be true.

Re: Got suspended for HEADDESK
What the heck is wrong with your teachers!!!! I just headdesked like four times.
Do not let a moment go by that doesn't remind you that your heart beats 900 times a day and that there are enough gallons of blood to make you an ocean.

Re: Got suspended for HEADDESK
I got suspended for wearing a hat. I guess schools can justify near any suspension, no matter how idiotic it may seem.

A teacher stole my hat. And then another teacher stole my friend's hat that I was carrying.

Yeah they do the same shit on my school, as well as with any electronics even if you're using them during lunch or whatever.

Bullshit on so many levels. Keep doing it all day, every day, as much as you can, and don't do the fuckload of extra homework that they pile on you whenever they suspend you.

even funnier: report the theft to the police
Even if the police refuse to do anything, you know that in some part of the teacher's brain he is going to be shitting bricks over the possibility that the police might really do something.

Re: Got suspended for HEADDESK
Well damn, I'd lay my head on the desk all the fucking time when I was in school (not to rub it in)! One could always point out how much of a time vampire school is, depriving students of their sleep and sanity and whatnot, but I guess the best response you'd get to that is "Deal with it!" School admins these days....

Re: Got suspended for HEADDESK
Dude that's fucked up. I mean things aren't that bad at my High school since its so liberal. But It's kind of fucked up how you can get away with more shit if you are in a honors class than a regular one. I wonder about APs. I don't think so because it's supposed to be at college level. I mean if you headdesk in an Honors class the teacher is like poor kid and then if you are in regulars they you send to the AP Office. It's kind of fucked up at my school they had this list of banned clothing sent out during summer saying if you wore any of it you will be punished as much as legally possible but now they don't do shit if you are wearing it. It's really hilarious since we got a new principal (Old one "retired" though LAUSD has like no money) and she's supposed to be super strict. The only time I heard her being "stirct" was when she was calling my friend "defiant" because he was telling a teacher to calm down because the teacher was yelling at him to be up front for this party thingy and he's letting the shorter kids go in front (I remember how I've always been the shortest or very close of being the shortest and how I've always forced to sit in the back.) He tells the principal that he's not comfortable to talk to her alone and that he would more than willing to talk to her in the AP Office.
