RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Vacations
Anybody going on a vacation soon? (couldn't find topic, rant if there is one)
I'm going to the Canary Islands for a week in a few days.
I can escape this cold winter just for a week~
Try it on yourself!

I'm going to OKC and hopefully will not be caught in a blizzard this time.

Re: Vacations
For some reason the whole idea of vacations seems really lame and depressing to me. It just reminds me of cublicle slaves that go on vacation and backt o their boring lifestyle, it seems to temporary.
Instead of taking vacations I would rather change my life every now and then, rather than living in a depressing pit of nothingness forever. Of course in order to make money you might have to have a boring job, but you should eventually try to enter a better cycle if that makes any sense.
I think most of the time people limit themselves because they think a "real job" has to involve a computer desk and inclosed in a cubicle. There's many jobs and careers that aren't "conventional". Boredom is my worst nightmare.

Re: Vacations
TDF: According to Google it's 5 celsius colder in where I live lol. And again according to Google 5 degrees Celsius = 41 degrees Fahrenheit if I remember right that you use it and not something like Kelvin.

Re: Vacations
I see.
We need more snow here. Snow is coming in spurts this year, instead of just snowing and snowing.

Re: Vacations
Wait -5 celsius or 5 celsius? They are two different things.
I want 5 celsius damn it. Or 15. Yeah 15 would be perfect.

Re: Vacations
Welcome back, how was it?
Missed this topic and thought you'd just kinda left like so many other new people.
Also, it never snows where I live, unlikely to see it even once a year, and even then it's usually less than an inch if it sticks at all.

Re: Vacations
It was actually boring a few days. Apparently I can no longer relax without doing something or stressful thoughts pop to my mind. I didn't like being on a beach at all.
But I gotta make compromises as long as I am part of the family. Otherwise, it was fun. Even the hotel food was okay. It was pretty average escapism IMO. Better than being 12/7 on the computer at least.
Try it on yourself!

Re: Vacations
Better than being on the computer?
No no no no, I do nothing but sit around the house and play on the computer, boring as you'd think it'd be, I feel really worked up whenever I leave the house.
Also, yeah beaches suck, sunburn and a crowds of other people, no thank you.
