To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Which political philosopher do you agree with?

Locke's views on the social contract come from his beliefs on human nature, which rely heavily on religion. I'm agnostic but I would not put my trust in a political theory that relies on religion to work as I am never sure that the premise for the whole theory is correct... All 3 rely on bottom up and I don't think anyone has a definite idea on what human nature is, so I reject all three. However, Locke's negative liberty and protection of it, property and life rights are pretty appealing compared to Hobbes' Leviathan... Rousseau never made too much sense to me, no laws would be created if one person didn't agree... but not everyone would ever agree on anything in a large society.

Locke: Pretty much believes that humans are fucked up so we need government, but the government needs to be kept back from being an ultimate power. People aren't totally dick-headed, but they are still fucked up enough that they require a government.
Hobbes: Humans are fucked beyond repair and their natural state is fucing crazy ass murdering anarchy oh my god shit's crazy we need totalitarianism.
Ruesso or however you spell it: OMG absolute democracy if everyone agrees we can pass a law, it's a totalitarianism of democracy in that if everyone wanted to vote to have no freedom, we could do it, but if even one person voted against it, it wouldn't pass... (Seems impossible to me.)

Regardless of his motivations, he seems more reasonable than either of the alternatives... His system seems to be working better than most of the other systems we've seen throughout history...

I've never cared much for philosophy. Of the 3, I like Locke the best, but Locke is kinda different than the others. He came from a Calvinist background, which I identify with myself; the guy had asthma, which is something I had when I was a little kid, also he questioned school back when he was in it. So yeah, I can actually identify with the guy, unlike the other philosophers like Descartes who get into too much abstract mumbo-jumbo.
On the other hand, maybe people are naturally pre-disposed for Locke, due to a lot of our current institutions (ex: the US Government) that were founded basing their reason for existence on his arguments.

Lol, Locke hardly believed humans were naturally fucked up, quite the opposite in fact. He believed we had morality, a sense of a good and bad since we came from God. Locke said a state was needed to protect liberty, life and property. He wanted as much negative liberty as possible.
And Hobbes... saying humans are fucked up beyond repair would imply that something has altered their natural state to become fucked up. Fundamentally, he argues we are only self-interested and want to prove our worth over others and atain glory which leads to violence. But something can't be initially "fucked up beyond repair". It also doesn't imply totalitarianism, although he wouldn't deny it. A state which protected your life and gave security was all that was needed.

I agree with none of them. I disagree with politics as a concept. 
The ultimate goal would be to get society to be based on compassion and respect... then politics would not be necessary. And yeah, that isn't likely to happen anytime soon. But I will not 'settle' for less and say I agree with something I don't entirely agree with, just because what I actually agree with isn't practical right now.

Fair enough. Ruesso or however you spell it was the same way with his theory of a perfect totalitarian direct democracy of people... Not at all practical, but he stuck to the idea. Different ideas, same non-settling attitude.
