RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

RE: School Crushes - Teachers breaking them up

This reminds me of something I read on the Newgrounds forums where a guy lost his best friend who was female because her parents forced her to write a letter to him saying they are not allowed to have any form of contact with each other whatsoever anymore. I find it somewhat sexist that everyone believes that if a girl goes near the opposite gender, she'll be pregnant with no money, stuck in US: Cheaply rented apartment. UK: Council flat, by themselves by the age of 16.

Quote:Oh, you have a dick, we believe that just because you have one you're gonna use it to make our daughter pregnant, and then you'll leave her in a cheap, smelly, tiny home in a rough city area with no money, partner or friends, even though we don't know you or anything about you. All we know is that you're a guy, so we're gonna break you up just for that, and we're too mentally retarded to understand how sexist we're technically being, because we just want to make your teenage years even more horrible

What do you mean a master? What do they do? What authority do they have compared to say, a regular teacher?

RE: School Crushes - Teachers breaking them up

If your body is physically capable of having a baby at, say, 15, why do you have to wait until 18 to be allowed? I wonder why our government picked 18 as the standard, since you can obviously have a child and drive before then, but you physically can't drink alcohol without some damage until your late 20s to early 30s. Why does the government get to pick an arbitrary number for when people can have sex? It obviously doesn't work. If schools really didn't want us acting on our perfectly natural urges in public, they would either sterilize us all or provide a private place for the continuation of the species.

"I have been allotted months of futility,
and nights of misery have been assigned to me.
When I lie down I think, ‘How long before I get up?’
The night drags on, and I toss and turn until dawn." Job 7:3-4

Both of my parents are teachers. My body is bound, but my mind is free.

My school doesn't enforce such strict rules (I bet they'd love to). As for kissing...well, I'd love to have my first one, but that shall never be... :(

RE: School Crushes - Teachers breaking them up

Some of the replies on here are compelling me to curse at my will and if a teacher decides to get me in trouble I'll plead the fucking 1st until they get tired of it. Then I'll tell them to think about how many kids don't curse. Probably to them a lot cause they're scared shitless to curse around teachers so the teachers never hear it. I think I will also excercize my right to remain silent when they ask me why I said it after I plead the 1st, or just tell them I have the right to and then nothing else. They'll tell me something about how they have control over us and then I'll start a shitstorm from them denying my rights. Damn right I'll curse a little in there too! Why the hell not?
