RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

omg you like metal i love you
Also November's Doom and The Gates of Slumber (only doom bands I'm into for now)
oh look another beautiful death metal band
playing beautiful music
Watch on YouTube
Also they play on D standard. And they sound brutal as hell.
Fuck downtuning. I fucking hate downtuning. Why? Because every fucking band plays on a different tuning than my guitar's. Right now it's on C standard. I wanna bring it back up to E once a string snaps. I'm barely fucking playing, man.
I guess with the right distortion settings you could make E sound as br00tal as any lower tuning, meh. Sort of.
11-48ishes. I used to have 9s but I switched to a heavier gauge and tried to reset the intonation and raise the bridge to tune down... it's fine now though, I found enough music playable in C standard.
Even then 11-48ishes on C standard seem a bit more tense than 9s on E standard.
Also I THINK this band plays on D standard, not sure though. And they sound brewtal as fuck too. EDIT: Oh wait no they don't, it sounds like they play in B or something.
I use 11 gauges in E-standard. It's a little tight, but they hold. As high gauge as you can go without having to downtune. I like to use a wide range of tunings, so medium strings are the most versitile.
I don't really want to rape my neck though, can't bother to adjust the truss rod. And bending is already a bit difficult. But the low C string does get a bit sharp if I pick it too hard.
Do you often switch tunings?

I change tunings just about everytime I play it. I just randomly go from playing dethklok to slipknot to E-standard tuned stuff in one day. Ive had my guitar for a couple of years and ive never noticed any neck bending. I also got a one-peice guitar so its pretty sturdy.

Oh nice, that's awesome. Mine's a bolt-on neck and it has more relief that it used to...
Lol if I'd just do that I wouldn't give a shit about alternate tunings
