RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Helpful life lesson
I learned that an old elementary school friend's father is going to jail for 20 years. They're sending him to some strange prison in Duluth. His mother was supposed to go to jail too, but got out of it because she still had children to care for. They scammed Best Buy out of an incredible amount of money (somewhere around $40 million if I remember) and they went to jail. I don't think this is fair because in true capitalism, you should be able to get away with scamming and tricking people.
Lesson to be learned: kill yourself.

Isn't scamming and tricking people the basic definition of capitalism anyway?

Not if the scamee scams or tricks the person who is doing the scamming and tricking. Then it's a crime.

Pure capitalism is like the theory of natural selection applied to economics.

Re: Helpful life lesson
Capitalism is inherently self destructive. Eventually one animal will eat more than its share and turn into a super fucking mammoth of an animal that can do/kill whatever the fuck if feels like. This ladies and gentlemen is a monopoly.

Even in laissez-faire capitalism, which I guess you are referring to, there is government protection from fraud.

Re: Helpful life lesson
Reminds me of the couple who scammed bank of america out of 80 million and fled to Japan(never found them).
Also you can scam people and nobody cares except if their rich as the government loves to protect their money trees.

Not an anarchist and I understand every current system and ideal has faults with them(that's so people don't come in here saying that I favor one over the other or I'm some anarchist, communist or some shit. I just analyze and say what I feel).
Capitalism is a house of cards where the top gets thinner and the bottom becomes bigger.
No matter what Unbridled Capitalism turns to corporatism with corporations holding the reigns of power and with people being greedy tend to oppress and cheat others below them for profit and the poor who hold up the society eventually get pushed enough and the house of cards comes tumbling down.
Some say that the point of capitalism is to compete but if that's true then why do we have a society? A societies entire purpose is so we don't have to compete with each other like animals.
