To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

DooM III
i have one little beef with this game that i want to get off my chest.
now I have an AMD athlon XP 2000+ with a radeon 9500 and 384MB RAM. i have to put Doom3 on the lowest graphical settings to play it and then in multiplayer I still get less than 25fps in the heat of the battle, not to mention it looks like utter crap on those settings. i repeat, utter crap. if say, i were to play Unreal Tournament 2004 on HIGH detail settings, it looks great and RUNS GREAT as well!
what's my point? oh i dunno, i guess i just get the feeling they made the game that way on purpose to force people to buy new uber PC's to be able to play it. how more obvious does it need to be?

its a sad fact the more powerful games become the more powerful pc's u need - wish it wasnt so but its just the way it is - well at least valve did a better job on the Half-life 2 engine so its not so bad for most pc's out there 
i wish pc's werent so obsolete within 6months but ja i spent a fortune on mine and it seems 2 be ok for now but um how long till i have 2 upgrade again - its a vicious circle indeed - conspiracy i tell u

Anyways, it's probobly goin slow because of the memory. You should be dual-wielding 512 megs.

384 = 256+128
but anyway, i have 768MB now that's 512+256 (i like the odd numbers)
i'll probably be getting another one (or 2) 512 sticks in the near future though. along with a new 3Dcard

 How long ago was this? And with all do respect, but how the hell did you figure DOOM 3 would'nt be crap if you only have 384?!
A 128 mb stick? I didn't know those even existed..

basically, my point was...
doom3 on low looks like crap and runs slow.
ut2004 on high looks awesome in comparison, and runs smooth.
i'm just totally unimpressed with the games industry in general these days. almost everyone's so obsessed over graphics that they forgot how to make fun games. and nobody cares about people who can't or don't WANT to throw out their PC for a new one every second year.
by the way, i live in south africa. you can still get 64mb sticks here. the prices here are insane. the exchange rate is only 6 to the $, but in reality the prices end up being 10x the $ amount. something about import tax, i'm told.

Just to let you know, you're going to get a performance boost if you have two of the like. It's called Dual Channeling. For instance, 512 + 512 > 128 + 128 + 256
