RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

March of the Penguins

This is possibly one of the worst ideas for a movie ever. How the hell did people think this was good.

Charlotte Observer:Lawrence Toppman

"The best action movie of the month contains chase scenes, fights, a love story, exotic locations - well, one exotic locale, snow-blasted Antarctica - and a battle for survival against long odds amid brutal conditions."
====================================================

Best action movie? Pulp Fiction is action, Kill Bill is action. This is about fucking penguins. Unless this movie has a scene where a penguin is pecking the eyes out of a screaming human, there is no way in hell this had any action.

Maybe you could actually go to zoo to see real penquins and if you got bored of seeing the penguins (which you will) you can go see cooler animals like lions, crocadiles, or large man-eating pythons.

im so tired of people talking about boring ass movies like there the fuckin greatest movie on earth...what next? march of the turtles?

so to all movie criticts out there that say stupid ass shit... Fu

dude, it's a documentary. it's not SUPPOSED to have "action." that doesn't mean it's a bad movie. i haven't seen it yet, but not all non-action movies are bad.

i saw it, wasn't too bad for an animal documentary.

the best part was when all the little baby penguins died and all the little kids in the theater started crying...lol...

Shit I just remembered that was on last week on discovery channel. Ah well. I'll get both documentaries when they're on DVD... and I have the money to pay for DVD's.

it's about a completely insane guy who lives in alaska making a documentary about bears, and in the process breaks every law about staying away from them, violates common sense, and starts meddling with nature in ways he shouldn't. and it eventually gets him eaten. the movie is the footage he took on his last trip that was found at his camp (like the blair witch project, only real). it's not really about bears, it's about the guy and how his obsession and arrogance lead to his death. really good movie.

everyone who thinks nature is full of happy little disney animals should see it. it's really a slap in the face, quite disturbing.

I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.

first have him get caught in a bear trap and gnaw his leg off. then while he's celebrating freedom while sinultaneously bleeding, go to the scope/hunter scene. but then the hunters eat the meat and get rabies and go insane and eat their families before getting their limbs blown off with a shotgun and falling dead on a rotting pile of mutilated corpses.

i know, i need help. i just felt pissed. None
