RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Thanks to everyone. (Especially SoulRiser)

I don't know if you all remember me but I remember you. It's been years since I've been here, so most of you probably DON'T know me, but to all of you that do remember...
I just wanted to say thank you.
This whole site really is amazing.

I was here way before we had "Philosophical Discussion" or "Voices in Your Head" and the always fun "Frag Arena", and way back then I had no idea that I'd create a lot of good friends and have people to talk to about anything. It was always fun and always made my day to come on here and chat with everyone.

I remember logging on to talk about the problems I had with school, and the best part was having no one judging me and telling me to just put up with it. Everyone told me to try and pursue alternate methods and it is amazing to have a place to meet people like that.

And then eventually I was able to talk about; life, politics, religion, girlfriends, friends, and even movies and video games, and it was an amazing thing that I'll never forget.

I made a lot of people who I would still call friends on this site. Maybe some more so then my friends in real life.
So Thank You all, for keeping this site going and making it into, not only a place for people who are angry at their schools, but a place for people to talk about anything at all and not be judged.

:-P
That is all.

I agree with everything the old guy said.

Let go of all desire for the common good, and the good becomes common as grass.

Good fortune follows upon disaster;
Disaster lurks within good fortune;
Who can say how things will end?
Perhaps there is no end.

I've seen you before. Yeah, thankx.

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.

Hahaha Life's good
Just been working at the same old job trying to have some fun in between.
Moved out of my mom's house and am out on my own (Minus the roommates).
Other then that not much is new since then...
Single and boring is the way I live right now.
I've recently started to talk to people/schools about getting my GED and it made me think of here, so here I am.

I see you guys have added a few more forums to the mix... Confused. lol

Rebel, you make any new books or stories when I was gone?

How's everyone else doing?
I think I saw something about some new game with nations involved...?

Long time no see, Demonic Pyro. I used to be known as FightforRight, Anonymous 1.0, WT Snacks, etc. I got better. :P

It's good to see you again. :)

Glad to hear that you're doing okay. Miss you and a lot of the older members a lot.

Just remember, the first thing you've got to do to become educated is forget most everything you learned in school. :)

Take care, mate.

Nah I've long since grew up past that illusion love stage(man I feel like such I was such a kid back then).

Just unemployed, still at home and older..

I actually like being alone but being not independent and relying on temp jobs just gets to me sometimes.
