RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The Libertine

Anyone else see it? I watched it with my Mom. How awkward.

But amusing.

Depp can pull off any role.

Let's do the time warp again!

Yeah, I know what you mean. Depp is awesome, I love him. Not because he's cute, but because he's one of the most talented people in the film industry. He takes on the most absurd roles and makes them entirely believable. I mean he's relatively good-looking but that's not what's great about him. It's his overall brilliance.

Anyways.

IMDB Wrote:The story of John Wilmot (Depp), a.k.a. the Earl of Rochester, a 17th century poet who famously drank and debauched his way to an early grave, only to earn posthumous critical acclaim for his life's work.

I say the movie was slightly awkward to watch with my Mom because he likes to parade seven-foot prop cocks on stage and have the actors in his plays fuck around for the audience (quite literally). It was super weird but hysterically funny and at the same time strangely profound. I mean I wouldn't give it an A from a critic point of view, but it's one of those movies that is just plain interesting to watch. I love the part when his character is going on about how the theatre is his drug. The writing has it's shining moments, if you know what I mean.

Let's do the time warp again!

Well.... except Willy Wonka.
But that remake was bound to suck before it was even considered to be filmed.

Ans that movie sounds pretty good, I should check it out.

Yeah, Johnny Depp is one of the best actors, but he really needs a good director (ie Tim Burton) and a good script (ie not Willy Wonka). In Pirates of the Caribbean, he didn't have either which is why he acts like an idiot with the drunkenness and the wiggling of the fingers.

Yeah, so I guess I might see the Libertine.

All dad and men are kinda faggy in some way or another. my brother's gay, and is obsessed with gilmore girl's, still standing, and RENT. While my father has a man crush on Curtis Stone (he's that guy on the tlc channel with the show Take Home Chef.)
