RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Super Columbine Massacre RPG!

I thought that with a title like that, it'd be a pretty offensive game. Now, it's too big for me to download (damn you, GPRS), but it sounds very interesting.

http://www.columbinegame.com/

Especially this page: http://www.columbinegame.com/statement.htm

Quote:CONTENTS: A FREE Role Playing Game (RPG) for your PC devoid of malware, spyware or other junk.

DESCRIPTION: This game delves into the morning of April 20th, 1999 and asks players to relive that day through the eyes of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, those responsible for the deadliest school shooting in American history. Preview pictures can be found below.

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows 98SE/2000/ME/XP, 233mhz processor, 128mb RAM, 50mb disk space, soundcard (optional). WINDOWS USERS ONLY.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Save "ColumbineRPG.zip" to your desktop or another folder of your choice and open it using Winzip (or a similar program). Run "Setup.exe" and create a folder for the game on your hard drive. The "README.txt" file contains basic game instructions. Finally, run "RPG_RT.exe" to PLAY.

If you do not have an unzipping program, you may download Winzip here.

A WORD TO THE WISE: Save your game whenever possible and explore! This game is intended to deepen the understanding of the shooting and its possible causes. What the player takes out of it is ultimately dependant upon what the player puts into it.

Please feel free to peruse the press room, the discussion forum, and the artist's statement sections for thoughts and ideas on video gaming, the shooting and aftermath, and how unconventional art forms can present important social critique.

Apparently the dude who shot up a college in Canada played this game, too. No wonder it's famous Rolleyes

I really didn't like the game.
Not for the story or anything.
It just wasn't that entertaining, or though provoking.

It's just, there's not much content to the game. So you go around, and you shoot things up. It's based on real events. Wheres the character? Wheres the storyline? Wheres the fun? You don't really get into what they were thinking, or who they were around with. As an imitation of real life events, it's not that fun.

As an RPG, it's just the basic hack and slash thing. Not amusing at all.

I don't like it.
