To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

My computer is messed up....
My dumbas$ brother fuc_ed it up.
He took off the side panel and cleaned out all the dust with a Q-tip
So stupid 
Anyway we took it in to Best Buy and now we have to wait 2-3 weeks for them to get done with it...
All my memory is gonna be gone... I'm soooo fuc_ing pis$ed right now.
(sorry for the $ and _s I'm on my school computer...)

What's a Q-tip?
I always clean mine out with a soft brush... like those "powder brush" type things that girls use for makeup. Yes, that's right. I own one of those. And I use it to dust my PC 
EDIT: Wikipedia ftw. A Q-tip is what we call an earbud over here. ... earbud... PC... erm yes. Not only would that take a really long time, but I'll bet there is now cotton all over your circuitry.  ... retard bonus if he wet it first

These are q-tips. They're cotton swabs on sticks, basically. my dad uses them for cleaning small computer parts. Or you can use them to clean you ears.

lol no it not what ur thinking the video game controlers i compleatly take appart till all i have left is the PLASTIC and then i swab it down. with the key bord i take out the keys and soak them then clean then. the q tips get nowhere ner the actual electronics

Well anyway. My dad uses q tips (the really good kind, not fucking generic) with rubbing alcohol to clean his cmputer parts, but hes gentle about it. it doesnt effect us at all.
I hope he omes back soon. hes droped to number 11 of the top 16 posters. So very sad.

Actually, rubbing alcohol might not be that crazy to use, since it evaporates really fast. But I don't think I'd use it without researching its' effects on circuits.

you'll need to use denatured alcohol, not rubbing alcohol (which is 70 percent water). Be sure to unplug the fucking thing first, and let it bleed off any capacitor charge. Really, it would be best to do anythign to a computer in a static-free environment, but that costs bucks. I used to work on reconnaissance cameras when I was in the service, so that's how I know this shit. And, yes, compressed air may be your best bet in must applications unless you're dealing with filth rather than dust.

LOL. I've had my share of shocks. Hmm, almost setting carpet on fire when I was 11 because I forgot to unplug the computer, trying to take apart a camera and getting shocked every time I touched it, shocks from the damn static electricity that builds up in my apartment building (sometimes I see a spark when I touch the elevator buttons), and touching a light after being in the pool.
