RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The Meaning Of Life
Personally, I don't think life has a specific meaning, it's just a bunch of events that happen.
What do you think the menaing of life is?

Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.

metaphysical people, flame away.
I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.

Try and understand the earth we have. Try to be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem (as annoying as that phrase gets). Just live it, don't take anything too seriously, and try to do something nice. It doesn't have to be grand, it just has to make a difference in someone else's life.

i don't think we'll ever know until we die. I look at it like this, if i die and there is nothing than my life had no meaning, but i won't care because i'm dead, or there will be something after life giving my life meaning but since i don't know what will happen after death i think the meaning of life is to live life the way we want.

It's probably a test to see if your soul is worthy enough to ascend to Heaven.

the meaning of life is happieness
to be truly happy
so happy that nothing else matters
but to know what truly makes u happy u have to also know urself
to truly know ur self
to embrace everything about urserlf good and bad
to proclaim ur flaws and ur advanteges from the roof tops *ok maybe thats a bad idea cus ull be arrested for disturbing the peace so i guess deep meditation would be good too*
I AM A THIEF IN THE NIGHT I WILL SAVE AS MANY AS I CAN

well i just do that i dunno why
anyway notice i havent done that in like 2-3 weeks *theres a reason for that *
anyway i think very deep thoughts
its just often things i cant put into words
but i contemplate meaning a few times a week
when i go to bed i have to lay there for a few hours before i can go to sleep *plenty of thinkin time there*
and when i wake up i lay there for about an hour before gettin up
plus all the daydreaming
so i kinda think about everything
I AM A THIEF IN THE NIGHT I WILL SAVE AS MANY AS I CAN
I KEEP THEM IN MY BASEMENT
I TELL THEM I AM THEIR MOMMY NOW

I would agree except for the embracing your flaws. I believe one should wear one's flaws on their sleeve. I think it's important we be aware of them, accept them as a part of us, and then try to reach a balance where we can fine-tune ourselves to be better people. I guess that's embracing them in a way.
Heh...the funny thing is I think I do embrace my flaws a bit too much. So I shouldn't be talking. Happy Camper can't help blaming herself for everything. >.<

by embracing ur flaws u prove u have a concious
all beings are flawed
cus if u dont have them ur nothing but a machine *a well tuned machine but still a machine*
by embracing ur flaws ur embracing ur humanity

Yes, I agree with that. I can't tell if I'm getting so caught up in the exact wording that I agree with what you're trying to say or if I'm somehow miscomprehending what you're trying to say. But as long as I hear embracing humanity, I think I can pretty much dig it.
Maybe it's the embracing of the struggle of humanity that I would put an emphasis on...
HC's Inner Voice: Maybe that's just your damn superiority complex that you should pay less attention to.

im saying anything without flaws cannot exist
cus who defines perfection you, no ,me, no
there is no absolute perfect
its all a matter of opinion therefore where all wrong and therefor imperfect
but these imperfections mean where working correctly
so where working well in our own eyes but we still strive for improvement
the same aplies to everyone

I'm not atheist or anything, not that there is anything wrong with that!!,but just because alot of people go with an idea,it doesn't necessarily make it true...

The only way I can see heaven being proved is if three things happen, 1) you die (clinically and legally); 2) you have an out of body experience while you are dead; and 3) you gain information that would not normally be available to you. Actually this wouldn't prove it, but it would make heaven/afterlife plausible.
I have read accounts and studies of OOBEs that have had #2 and #3 but were not clinically dead, which raises the possibility of it being a phenomena of the mind. Combining OOBEs with reports of spontaneous (i.e. not coerced or under hypnosis) remembrance of past lives, and subsequent verification of the accounts, has led me to believe that an afterlife is plausible. The only way I would fully believe in an afterlife if I have one of the events I listed above.

Hell sucks but it isn't a place of fire and brimstone. Hell is being born on a planet populated by destructive idiots who cannot do anything right, even help each other. Seeing as I believe in reincarnation, for me THIS is the afterlife. Fortunately we are not here forever.

"Hell is other people." --Jean-Paul Sartre [The Exit]
But personally I have to follow the belief that "Heaven can be other people too." --Dan Miller [Blue Like Jazz]
This doesn't change my belief in an afterlife. They're simply quotes and perceptions of heaven and hell that I happen to like. Because as much as I absolutely cherish The Exit, in all reality I think that hell would be just out of reach of something. It isn't going to be fire. It's going to be lonelyness, deprivation, and abandonment. Dan Miller uses a short story about an astronaut getting lost in space and endlessly orbiting the earth, with home in sight but just out of reach. He could see people and get peeks at the life they lived but he could never reach out and talk with them. He was left to dwell alone without anyone else in the void of space.
I think that's sort of a better picture of hell. Although the idea of hell being a lobby area is so much more entertaining and ironic.
But that's only the guess/idea that I like to go with. I don't claim any part of this to be truth.
