RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

^Fucking A. Also, I doubt Egypt will be the last country to have it's government overthrown or replaced by it's people in the next few years.

Re: Unrest in Egypt: What’s going on?

And now there's protests in Yemen! Dude, this is crazy...it's like the whole fucking Middle East just looked around at each other one day and thought "you know, this dictator stuff really blows." "Wanna change it?" "Yeah, sure."

So damn inspiring. And Glenn Beck thinks it's a communist conspiracy to destabilize the Mideast (as if it was so wonderful and peaceful before) and destroy America, so it must be good!

I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.

Re: Unrest in Egypt: What’s going on?

Shouldn't it go without saying that if Glenn Beck claims that something's an evil communist conspiracy to undermine the American border system or whatever the fuck he thinks, it's good?

Re: Unrest in Egypt: What’s going on?

I am loving this. Only problem is that unless this revolution ends up completely resetting the situation in Egypt, there'll be some big problems later on. Like, even worse people coming to power.

But man, if this goes off without a hitch, ME politics is going to be weird for a while. The U.S., along with the CIA is going to get kicked right the fuck out, meaning no more CIA black sites in Egypt. Fuck state kidnapping and torture.

And if this keeps spreading. :DDDD

Re: Unrest in Egypt: What’s going on?

See, this is why you should never half ass things. Mubarak should have shut down the net completely and cordoned off his country. In NK, we never had the internet, we had the Kimjongilternet.

Ah, but stalkers will slip through and set up camps while they search for artifacts, and eventually setting up entire paramilitary groups based on different ideals...

Wait, wrong Cordon.

If I read correctly, martial law has been declared in Egypt, or something like that. I can't remember the source, though.

Re: Unrest in Egypt: What’s going on?

The military has dissolved parliament, which is what the protesters wanted to happen because parliament was corrupt and the military was fairly neutral. A new constitution is in the works, will be drafted soon.

Re: Unrest in Egypt: What’s going on?

This may be unrelated, but here in the U.S., the Republicans have been known for demanding government get off our backs. They don't want a nanny state and don't want the government controlling aspects of life people can handle themselves. Yet, they want the U.S. to influence the outcome of the new Egyptian government. They don't fully trust the Egyptian people or the Muslim Brotherhood. Way to let people think for themselves, Fox News (which is where I saw the contradiction, only because my dad loves Hannity and O'Reilly).

Re: Unrest in Egypt: What’s going on?

Republicans are full of shit. They want a large government as much as the democrats, they just want to avoid paying taxes for it. Everyone in government wants more power these days.

^They just don't want their money taken away, because then the poor people won't "work for it" (steal from countless others, screw others over, and form an elitist group that only a few can join because of past advantages).

Hit the nail on the head.

Republicans want more say and power just like everybody else.
Just more greedy than everybody else and believe a whole society should be dedicated to them while the majority suffers in shit.

Just shows the reality of democracy.
