RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Exams and Summatives - How are you handling it?

For those in Highschool (I'm Grade Ten) June is the close to Summer, but also the time of Summatives, and Exams. Ugh, it's hell.

I've finished by History Summative, did it really good, right now working on my Business Summative. And then I have a Science and Art Summative.

Ugh! I hate it! How about the rest of you?

I can't wait till Summer and it's all over, -for two months anyway...

Ugh!

I know I'm putting on the song, "School's out" by Alice Cooper when I am free

We kinda had finals.
I have 9 tests in three days.
math (All A or A+)
Science Final (I tied the highest score)
History (Missed three out of like 250 questions) <took us a week to finish that in class, plus some lunch periods
Then all the other tests n' shit.

I haven't gotten my report card or my test score thing yet D:<

I only have one final (I only take one conventional school class). It's on Thursday. I haven't studied yet. Which is going to come back to kill me because it's chem. But I think I know the teacher well enough to know that it's going to be easier than he makes it out to be and when he says we're all in sorry shape, he's referring to the majority of the class that scraped by with Ds and Cs on every test during the semester. I'll be studying tomorrow and the next day probably.

But I can't say it's caused me any stress at all really.

Let's do the time warp again!

Ok, I just got my report card like 2 seconds ago and I got shitty grades 1st semester, then better grades 3ed quarter, and then only a B in 4th quarter (The rest= A's)
And we just got that test thing back and I got all math/science/language arts/reading/social studies in "advanced"
I'll up-load both of them later.

The worst thing I did in was language arts, I'm a good writing, but my mechanics fucking suckkkkk.

I learned all the "grammar" I know from these books during seventh grade, I've never "studied" for a grammar test, and I understand English grammar quite well. I used to correct people a lot, but I stopped doing that because people find it annoying. I sometimes correct English teachers though.
