My suicide theory..

Ok this is sorta a theory I made up to why the government does not want you to kill yourself. I told my dad and friends and they said this could be true Ok here is a example. Ok lets say that becky has had a hard life, no friends and has no family because they all died and lets also say becky is not doing so hot in school either and has no real hope in her future so she goes home and kills herself its just one life right.... Well what if millions of people felt the same as becky and decided to bite the bullet. When the government sees the suicides they don't see people who need help no way they see wasted resources. The government sees children and teenagers as cattle that it must feed, teach and raise in order for it to mature so it can work and earn it money but when we kill ourselfs we basically cheat the government our of its food, money, time and energy they took to raise us so its not because the government cares about you that they want you to live nope its because they need future soldiers and cattle to help run this country.

So what do you think? If its stupid than say so because I'am not kirby its not going to be a fancy organized and well thought out speech.

I had always thought about it from the other end: The radically thinking people who realize how stupid the current state of the world is and are strong enough to kill themselves (Suicide is forbidden by law and in religion.) are the ones whom the government wants to get rid of. Of course, this is compatible with your explanation; mine explains who should kill themselves, and yours explains who shouldn't.

Good theory, that. The government "needs" us, so they want to keep us alive as much as possible. Not just them though, businesses too. Wasn't there some study somewhere that said that depressed people buy more shit they don't need?

Politicians and governments aren't usually that malevolent. It's probably discouraged just because people run the government and most people see suicide as bad.

Also, suicide is legal.

(if so which country are you from?) because if that's so, any methods to counter a suicide attempt could be classed as illegal i think, if the person is intent upon the legal act of committing suicide and is being stripped of their free will by being prevented from comitting the act....dont know if this makes sense. jsut my thoughts.

Yeah, ok... most of them probably don't actually think of it that way. Doesn't make it less convenient though... And it's not like most of them think of solving the causes of the problems... they just blame the depressed people for being depressed and give them pills and stuff.

Honestly, I don't buy into conspiracy theories like that. I believe that people, some people anyway, actually mean what they say.

But, here's a couple of questions:

Why would the government worry about a suicide rate? They can import labor from across the globe, who will work for half of what Becky, in your scenario, might have never considered.

Most people aren't farmers, so you aren't cheating it out of money.

Less people results in more money between the group.

Think about schools like this: If a school is designed to have a 50% success rate, then they expect that only 15 out of 30 people will make it through school. That way, they spend no extra money on you or I.
