RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Bad beat down?

clip: http://emuse.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/34068

I found this clip the other day, and was deeply disturbed, but very curious as to what happens. Each of the kids in here looks like their about 12 or so, and I'm not quite sure what provokes such an attack on apparent innocent people. I'm not sure if they survived that...just wondering what yall though about the whole thing...I also find it odd that the camera man is cracking up the whole time. Cuckoo No

fuck man. i hate people like that. first of, i hate people that feel a need to beat the shit out of someone 'cuz they looked at you funny', and then, on top of that, they get all their buddies together to gang up on the kids. i mean, at least live by your own rules. be a 'man', and fight the kid one on one. this is like the ultimate in cowardice.

I've been beaten up on a bus at elementary school. The guy was hitting me, scratching me with a pencil, and he even jumped off the seat to elbow drop me. No one did shit, not even the bus driver.

Because punishment is not always physical, and it shows ignorance to always assume that is how it should be carried out. Such to quote a redneck at my school:
"Let's Just go bomb em all!" ......ugh.

There are psychological punishments as well, imprisonment is enough to change some people over...then again some go back to being bad again once they are released. Then there is life imprisonment, which might keep them off the street, however then we have the problem of feeding them, and finding room for them in already crowded prisons. OR, people who commit crimes this horrible, can be thrown in solitary confinement, year or two? If their not insane when they come out, maybe they've learned something. Really though, I think it's a different punishment for everyone. But I don't think it should be violence, at least not for most people. I for one if punished with violence, just learn to resent the attacker, and would like nothing more than to retaliate, if it was the government, it would make me want to go do something else. However, some like me might also have the philosophy of pain not mattering, it being only an earthly thing....so why bother? And why should it effect them? If it kills them, they won't care, and if it doesn't kill them...they continue doing what they want.

Unless the question is what does V-I-O-L-E-N-C-E- spells....then violence is usually not the answer. But if you read that paragraph above it may seem I am confused, but really, I'm just spelling out various scenarios... and that is what life is...various ways things could turn out given your action to the cause. Cause and effect. So therefore everything is circumstantial, and not everything can be grouped into a category and solved the same way. I'm not even sure murder deserves death. If their is a God, the state is not it....they did not give the life, and have no right or power to take it away.

"Fear not he who can kill the body, but he who can kill the soul"

(Reading through all this, it's like I'm rambling....but's thats how I talk and think....I think outloud sometimes...thus producing this)

"For those who believe, no explanation is nexessary. For those who do not, none will suffice."
