RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Dude, I'ma be President

Would you vote for me if I ran for President of whatever country you live in?

That is my dream. I will be President of the USA and you will vote for me. MWAHAHAHA!

So this is what I'd change in the USA:
I would cut government to where it just keeps people from hurting others. The Libertarian ideology basically. I would probably keep safety and environmental regulations though. I'm also ardently free market (I know, it's a surprise). I believe a truly free market has a level playing field, but during this day and time the market and government are too entangled. I would keep a free education system, but make it totally voluntary while reforming it. There would also be no standing army.

If you have any questions on certain issues inquire in this thread... AND VOTE FOR ME! None

Yeah, but how are you gonna get there? You've got the right idea, bud, but no ideas or plans on a transition. We're libertarians, but the last thing i want is poor people losing welfare immediately.

Well, you sound a helluva lot better than the people currently running the country, so yeah, I'd vote for you.

I does not agree with all of Weswammys political ideologies. So.... no Smile
And just so you know... this is how you become president:
When campaigning... (not for like... the democratic/republican elections, but for the really big one)
Be as nuetral as possible. So then you's get everyone's vote. If a question comes up, like for gay marriage you has to be like "Zomg! well... I beleives... in like... equality... and NEXT QUESTION"
So you does not ouright say I BELIEVE IN GAY MARRIAGEZORG!

Yeah.

Amen.

Seriously, you'd be a huge improvement over these idiots who try to mold the entire country/world according to their views of things.

No. Voting is an inalienable American right. A RIGHT.
That means there is no age restriction.

If I was prez there would be not laws based on age.

I wouldn't vote for you.... well, maybe. Depends on whos running against you.
But I think we can do a hellofalot better. Smile

Ageism is, when you truly think about it, discrimination against a certain people. It's true that there are these so called studies where it has been "proven" that a certain age is not able to make certain critical decisions etc... but honestly, you can make a study biased against anybody if you wanted to. But anyway. It shouldn't apply to voting, because while you can argue youth doesn't make the appropriate decisions, what are the appropriate decisions? People much older than 18 or 21 make ill advised choices, on everything, and the entire point behind a choice in any election is that it's a choice, regardless of what the "right decision" any group of people thinks what the right decision is. It makes the entire argument of "wrong choices" null and void.

Why is everyone so fucking obssessed with 18 anyway?
Why?

Ok, you can get sentenced as an adult at 14, you can go to war at 18, you can only drink at 21.

Most of those have no basis. Because if they did, well first of we are mentally mature by 11 and physically mature by 25, and none of that revolves around 18. People say getting a tattoo under 18 is bad because you're body is still maturing, but at 18-25 its still maturing also.

Well, yes. OK.

Why is 18 important? <Thats main point of post.

Weswammy was asking US what we thought, not the electoral college (whatever that is).

I agree. But if I was in the US, I'd still vote for Weswammy anyway, cause it'd be a huge improvement at least.

I think there should be an age restiction on voting simply because parents are able to mislead young children, or could vote twice as their young child, in order to further their agenda. The age start should be round 14. Even though early teenagers still rely on their parents for financial support and otherwise, they're rational enough to make political decisions IMO. Even if they aren't, chances are they won't vote anyways.

No, shut up. And parents already indoctrine their kids genius. If you grow up in an extremely conservative household, whether your 4 or 40 you're probably going to vote conservatively.

And it still doesnt matter. Voting is a right, you cant fuck with rights bitch.

And weswammy has views that I don't agree with, and we can go a lot more liberal then him.

But this still doesn't prevent fraud from happening in a voting system for the youngest of children. Do you think a 1 year old can physically vote? Thought so. Fact is, while children arent pets and theyre fairly intelligent (I uphold Frank Zappa and how he brought up his kids), the youngest of children still have some significant needs. Even back in the days of the framers, there were some limitations. I know you dont agree with him. I'm just trying to start a debate regarding the views beyond "Oh, I don't agree."
