RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

English Log
At school today we had to answer the teachers questions about what we "learned" in English so far this year. I saved it so thought it would be funny to post it here
My answers are in bold.
Log document Wrote:Explain what kind of learner you are - how do you learn best?
By talking to people.
How do you prepare for tests and work with assignments?
I don’t do any of that.
What can you do in order to improve your learning?
Talk to more people.
What do you think your teacher can do in order to help you become a better student?
Stay the hell away from me.
"HOW TO BE A GOOD STUDENT OF ENGLISH"
1.What did I learn from this unit?
Nothing.
2.How did I learn this?
See the above question.
3. Self-assessment. Keywords: work effort, achievements and areas with room for improvement.
There is no room for improvement.
4. If unit is graded: how do you feel about your grade? Remember to give reasons for your arguments.

I didn't deliver it in yet, we all wrote in Word, and saved the document. I wonder what the teacher's reaction will be, he's not used to these kinds of responses

lol, you should make them really long, and boring.
and then at the end of everything, at the bottom of the page, you shoudl say,
"now trry reading all of that boring information that you will never retain let alone use in your life, and do it everyday, thankyou for wasting my time."
or something along the lines of that. teehee.
i love doing these things.

I would, but I can't really write any long responses to those questions, always "nothing" or "I don't know" or something short like that.
I can't really have any "good" answers for questions like that, for I have never done any work at school (which the questions are about)

I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.

Aha, nice.
I honestly think one reason why my school let me out was because the faculty was tired of getting responses like those from me .
sorry guys...a lot of crap has been going on. i'll be lurking from time to time, but not too much :(

Re: English Log
I think it's better when you actually answer the questions rather than saying you can't. I answered everything here to give you an idea of what I meant.
Log document Wrote:Explain what kind of learner you are - how do you learn best?
I am a divine learner; I learn by talking to people.
How do you prepare for tests and work with assignments?
Sleep
What can you do in order to improve your learning?
Talk to more people.
What do you think your teacher can do in order to help you become a better student?
Stay the hell away from me.
"HOW TO BE A GOOD STUDENT OF ENGLISH"
1.What did I learn from this unit?
Nothing.
2.How did I learn this?
Slowly.
3. Self-assessment. Keywords: work effort, achievements and areas with room for improvement.
There is no room for improvement.
4. If unit is graded: how do you feel about your grade? Remember to give reasons for your arguments.
My grade is too high considering that I don't know English. All of the people who got lower grades will feel really stupid when I tell them what I got.

Re: English Log
MY TURN
Log document Wrote:Explain what kind of learner you are - how do you learn best?
By reading
How do you prepare for tests and work with assignments?
Cram it
What can you do in order to improve your learning?
Leaving this place, the educatio nhere sucks.
What do you think your teacher can do in order to help you become a better student?
Stay the hell away from me.
"HOW TO BE A GOOD STUDENT OF ENGLISH"
1.What did I learn from this unit?
I learned a new found hatred for grammar.
2.How did I learn this?
[ VERY QUICKLY AND STORNGLY/b]
3. Self-assessment. Keywords: work effort, achievements and areas with room for improvement.
[b]No improvment necasery.
4. If unit is graded: how do you feel about your grade? Remember to give reasons for your arguments.
Grades dont matter in the real word so i don't care.
I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.

Ugh. Do not ever get me started on logs. Logs are so utterly, utterly pointless, and only serve to assign 7 days of homework in one assignment. They try to control you in your life.
